The most important factor in choosing a career is your liking towards a particular field. If you are of the kinds who hate math, then you shouldn't take up an accounting job. If you are good at designing or decorating then may take up courses that enhance your designing and decorating abilities and pursue a career in those respected fields. In other words you should be able to be comfortable in whatever you do.
Most people take up careers that are well paying but don't pay attention to their own skills. They only think about the success they would achieve in a short term period without keeping in mind the long term disadvantages. Say for instance, you aspire to become a model or an actor. You believe that its something that you can do. But have you though about the other factors as well, such as the gestation period and competition ?
I have heard of many cases, where people have switched from their current jobs and taken up another job. Its very common amongst people, specially teens who are impulsive. They join a particular company thinking that if one of their friends have joined there and attained a certain post in a short span, they can do that too. But let me tell you something; they are the ones who keep switching jobs every now and then.
You could take up a job for a while to make a few bucks. There is nothing wrong with it. But if you are thinking of making a career in a company and growing with it, you better stick to it. Even if its getting harder day after day. At the end, you will thank yourself for sticking to that company and growing with it.
Before you choose a career, try to ask yourself about the qualities you see in yourself that are suitable for that job. Make notes of your likes and dislikes, the working hours and essentially the pay scales, since we want to work for money and not for charity !
I would like to say a last few words before i end this article. I would like to ask everyone to do a thorough research on themselves, the career path they are choosing and the extent they would go to become successful in their careers. Best of luck .
