One thing to take into consideration is job security, there will always be people in need of healthcare services, so the healthcare provider generally has remarkable job security. There are so many areas in healthcare that one can choose to specialize in, resulting in career satisfaction. A few examples are nursing, an RN can make up to $60,000 annual salary, a radiology technician can make up to $48,000 annual salary. These are only two examples, the career choices in healthcare are endless. Do your research and you should be able to find what interests you most.
Now, as for the computer technology field, there are many specialty areas as well. Computer technology is on the rise, and this is a very secure field to go into as well. Technology is here to stay, so research this career choice and one should be able to find an area of interest. Some examples are, a software engineer, the average salary of a software engineer is $85,000 annually, whereas a top executive software engineer can make up to $200,000 annually! A computer/IT analyst on average makes $83,000 annually. These are only the top two career fields in the United States. There are so many other fields to choose from.
The best advice for our graduates is to do your research and visit work places to see if it's an area of work you really want to go into. I really encourage young adults to think very long and hard as to what they want to do until they retire. It is extremely important to receive a college degree today. With the rising cost of living, and so many more employers requiring a degree of some sort, one cannot expect to graduate high school and go right out and get a high paying job with no degree. Don't get me wrong, some still get lucky and find an opportunity to make above average wages without a degree, but it is very rare now. I want to wish this years high school graduates the best of luck in their career paths and with them much success in years to come!
