I hope that this never happens in your home but reading this ahead of time just in case of a grease fire may save your life, and the life of your family or save your home, or at least save your kitchen from having to be totally remodeled due to the fire wasn't put out promptly. The unpleasant effect of a grease fire it can occur when grease and oil is left on a stove, oven, even a deep fryer and the heat gets hot enough to ignite into a fire. When people think of a fire normally you think of water to put the fire out, but you NEVER do this procedure with a grease fire. Using water in a grease fire will only make matters worst fire tends to spread quickly all by itself without it even being a grease fire it will spread to the cabinets and other area's in your kitchen so if you use water this will cause the fire to spread even faster than what it would have spreaded in the first place, it will also cause major sparks if you use water on a grease fire.

You might want to invest in getting a fire extinguisher in your home especially in or near your kitchen area because most house fires are mostly started in the kitchen area and always be sure to have working smoke detectors. Places where you might burn candles often or where there may be some type of heaters try to have a fire extinguisher near. Now it is a known fact that everyone don't have fire extinguishers in their home, so if you don't have one having a few idea's of what to do in case of a grease fire will be helpful to you. If the fire has not spreaded and it is still in the pan and manageable than you might want to try to use a large towel to smother the fire this will quickly put the fire out. If the fire is out of hand and there is no way of really handling the fire than you need to right away call 911 so they will be on there way. If the fire is in a cooking pan you might want to try to cover the pan with a lid, anyway of smothering the fire would be best. A large wet towel has also been known to work so that would helpful if you have one in reach at the time.

If you carried large amounts of baking soda this has also been a remedy for small grease fires, just pour the baking soda over the flaming area. Plenty of people have tried to carry out the pot or pan that is burning, but you should NEVER try to take the burning pot or pan outside this can really make matters worse. Try to smother only if it's a small grease fire, if it's to out of hand call the fire department and get out of your house. If your clothing catch on fire on any part of your clothing STOP, DROP, and ROLL and hurry and get everybody out the house. You have to be the judge of weather or not you stay in the house and try to manage the fire, or completely get out of the house only you can determine that by the looks of the fire. These tips will help you but 911 is always the key option if you are undecided or to afraid to try to put out the fire never hesitate to call for help.
