What Channel is the 2011 Belmont Stakes on and What Time is Post Time?
The Belmont Stakes: No Triple Crown Winner in 2011, but Worth Watching Anyway!
Because Animal Kingdom won at the Kentucky Derby, but lost to Shackleford at the Preakness, there is no possibility for a 2011 Triple Crown winner at the Belmont Stakes. What, then, is the point in watching it?
Love of horse races
Horse racing fans are no different from other sporting fans. They watch for the love of the sport, out of loyalty, and for the excitement that takes place, regardless of the importance of the event. There's nothing like seeing shots of the sleek thoroughbreds; interviews with owners, trainers and jockeys; and the goose bumps that pop up along the arms as the first resonant notes of "Call to the Post" ring out.
Love of competition
Even though Animal Kingdom won the Kentucky Derby and then lost the Preakness, that doesn't mean there isn't an edge of competition at the 2011 Belmont Stakes. Animal Kingdom beat Shackleford in the first leg of the Triple Crown, then lost to him in the second leg. But horse racing fans who love Shackleford maintain that if he runs in the Belmont Stakes, he'll win. Animal Kingdom's fans insist that the longer track will prove Shackleford can't go the distance, since it runs 1 1/2 miles. Horse racing enthusiasts are looking forward to the Belmont Stakes because regardless of which horses are running, the thoroughbreds entered will be beautiful, top quality horses capable of thundering down the track and stealing one's breath away.
