What Channel Are the Phillies on for Game Two of the National League Championship Series in Philadelphia?

After a long day of football, fans across the country, and particularly in the Philadelphia and San Francisco areas, will settle in tonight to watch Game Two of the National League Championship Series; many of them are wondering what channel the Phillies and Giants game is on.

While the NFL was long ago proclaimed the King of All American Sports, sports fans everywhere are doing themselves a disservice if they ignore the Major League Baseball playoffs as they manage their fantasy teams, place their online NFL bets and play in their office pools.

The League Championship Series are now in full swing and both present drama and possibilities that early regular season football games could never hope to match. Now, if only people will watch. While Major League Baseball remains hugely popular in the country, it often takes a back seat to the NFL on fall Sundays.

In the National League, the Philadelphia Phillies suddenly find themselves in a position that just twenty four hours ago would have seemed unthinkable: they will play a near 'must win' game tonight in Game Two of the National League Championship Series. While many in Philadelphia may not be able to watch due to the Fox and Cablevision fiasco, the game tonight is merely the latest example of why many who pay attention believe that the Major League Baseball postseason is the best of all the sports.

Going into both the American League and National League Championship Series, most experts and fans thought that both series were merely stops along the way for an inevitable Phillies matchup with the New York Yankees in a World Series rematch from last year.

Saturday's action, however, showed why baseball is not that easy to predict. The Yankees, after a thrilling come from behind win on Friday night against the Texas Rangers, lost Game Two as starting pitcher Phil Hughes was knocked around early and often. Usually, the visiting team is content to take one of the first two games of the series before returning home for three games.

But the Yankees on Monday night will need to face Texas ace Cliff Lee, the man they almost traded for during the season, and the man who dominated the Tampa Bay Rays in the American League Division series. So, there is discomfort in Gotham, even though much of it is likely exaggerated as the Yankees do have perennial postseason stalwart Andy Pettitte facing Lee.

For their part, the Phillies lost to the San Francisco Giants in Game One in Philadelphia. Roy Halladay, who pitched as dominating a game as is possible during the first round as he no-hit the Cincinnati Reds, was outpitched by Giants ace Tim Lincecum as the Giants won 4 to 3. Suddenly, the Phillies are in a position of having to win to salvage a split a home and avoid going to San Francisco having lost the first two at home and needing to win two out of three just to come back to Philadelphia.
