What Channel and What Time is the Minnesota Vikings Game on in Minneapolis and St. Paul Area Tonight?

The Twin Cities Area Gets Ready for Some Football...But When and Where is it On?

Ron Hart
As the number one sport in the country, the National Football League returns tonight to the delight of tens of millions of fans; many fans in the Minneapolis are asking, what time and what television channel is the Minnesota Vikings game on tonight in the Twin Cities?

While the Saints are a bigger attraction than ever after upsetting the Indianapolis Colts and winning the Super Bowl last year, for their Super Bowl ever, the Minnesota Vikings are a big attraction as well, particularly in the football crazy Minneapolis and St. Paul area.

The Vikings take the field, of course, as the yet again 'unretired' Brett Favre returns for the second season with the Vikings. At 41 years old, Favre is a nineteen year veteran. Plenty love him and plenty hate him, Brett Favre is an immortal quarterback.

As is the case with most of the country, in Minneapolis and St. Paul, the National Football League draws great ratings; particularly when the hometown Vikings play.

While the Minnesota Twins of Major League Baseball is a popular and beloved franchise, baseball is a long, 162 game grind and not every game attracts a lot of attention. When the Vikings play, as they will tonight to kick off the NFL season against the New Orleans Saints, the whole city shuts down to watch.

The game tonight between the Vikings and the Saints is perfect for drawing people to the television as it is on a great night for television (Thursday), and has the marquee value of Brett Favre and the sex appeal of a defending Super Bowl Champion tea in the New Orleans Saints.

The only question remaining, then, for those in the Minneapolis and St. Paul area is what local television channel and what time the game is on. In recent years, it has at times become harder to know exactly what time and on what channel the NFL game is on.

Years back, there were only really three possible game times as the league played at 1:00PM and 4:00PM on Sundays and at 9:00PM on Monday nights.

Now, though, they play quite a few games on Thursdays, such as tonight's season opener.

Tonight, though, the kickoff to the 2010 National Football season, featuring the Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints, will be broadcast live in the Minneapolis and St. Paul area at 7:30PM CDT on the local NBC affiliate, KARE-11.
