What Channel is the New York Jets and Indianapolis Colts Playoff Game on Tonight?

Gang Green Takes Its Act to the Midwest

What channel and what time is the New York Jets game on tonight as they visit the Indianapolis Colts for wild card weekend?

As the National Football League enters its postseason millions will be huddled around televisions this weekend to watch wild card qualifiers meet up for the right to advance to next week's games. The winner of the Jets and Colts game will earn the 'privilege' of moving on to visit the New England Patriots, who look to be the best team in football this year.

Both the Jets and the Colts have had uneven years. Overall, most observers see the Jets as the superior team, but the Colts have a decided advantage at the most important position on the field: quarterback. While the Jets' Mark Sanchez has had, in total, two solid years in the NFL, the Colts' Peyton Manning is widely regarded as one of the best quarterbacks of all time.

If there is a knock on Manning it is that he has not always come up as big in the postseason as he has during the regular season. For all of his greatness, he has only one Super Bowl ring. While that likely could be ascribed to the team around him, and not his performance itself, quarterbacks, particularly elite quarterbacks, are evaluated based on the number of Super Bowl rings they have.

Sanchez, who left college early to play in the NFL, is still learning the position. But he was good enough to lead the Jets to a halftime lead in the AFC championship game in his first year in the league last year...against these same Indianapolis Colts.

While the Colts eventually won the game, the performance of the rookie Sanchez, along with his rookie head coach Rex Ryan, raised eyebrows around the league.

Ironically, the Jets seem to be overshadowed at times by themselves. They have carefully built a much earned reputation for talking a lot about themselves. This week, Rex Ryan told numerous media outlets that he expects his team to go the Super Bowl. Such bragging is highly unusual for the buttoned up world of NFL coaches, but Ryan seems to relish putting a bulls-eye on his team's back.

Ryan, on a personal level, is dealing with quite a bit of off the field attention as videos of his wife in foot fetish videos, some of them x-rated, have surfaced in recent weeks. Add this to the controversy surrounding strength coach Sal Alosi tripping an opposing player, alleged harassment of a sideline reporter, and a DWI arrest of Jet Braylon Edwards, and this team has spent most of its time this year in the eye of a media storm.

Tonight, though, the attention turns, at least partially, to football as the Jets visit the Colts. For those wondering what channel and what time the Jets and Colts game will be on, the answer is NBC at 8:00 pm ET.
