After many hours we came up with some great ideas. We have put all these ideas into play and its really working.
Guess you would like to know what we came up with.Well i am going to tell you and I will explain how to make the idea work. These ideas will bring new fun and imagine nations to all.
First idea- One problem children have is there is way to much to choose from.Grab yourself some boxes.Alot of stores throw them away so it wont cost you a thing.Split the toys up into groups and place them in a box.Select one box and leave those toys out for 2 weeks.Than rotate to the next. This teaches them that they don't need new toys. They will also learn to appreciate there toys. This gives the child a chance to explore all there toys and not just a few.
Second idea- Find other parents with the same age children and play the good old fashion swap game.Use the same box idea but instead trade with they other parents.Send a box here or there. You can trade all of them or just some. This will give the child a chance to receive new toys that don't cost a thing to you.
Third idea - Your child wants a new toy.Okay well teach them how to buy there own.Take them to the toy box and ask them what would you like to sell at a yard sale to make the money to buy that toy.Now set a weekend a side and set the little one up.Let them sell those toys earn the money and buy their own.You will teach them how to get rid of what you don't want.Work for what you do want.Be responsible and buy what you want. These a great teaching ideas. Most children lack this and need to learn it anyways.
Fourth idea - Consignment stores have two types of programs they offer.First one is taking the toys to them and they will sell it for a small fee.You than pick up your profit and do what you want. The second is you can bring the toys in and they will give you a set price and if you except your little one than can go shop in the store for what ever they like. They will learn that just because they don't like the toys anymore doesn't mean that they are trash. It could be another child's Treasure. They will also learn the value of a dollar. It will also teach them how to spend there profit wisely.
Fifth Idea--Set up a swap meet for you and friends.Maybe even the neighbors.Everyone brings the unwanted toys to the swap meet.Have a large tarp placed on the ground.Place all the toys on it and count them up.Next count all the children and divide that with the toys. This will allow you to tell the children how many toys they may choose. From that point let them go and have fun..Cost nothing.Saves you from having to by new toys and the kids have a great time. You can even make this a cookout event...
These are great idea's that will save you money and most likely a headache.Have fun with these ideas and see if you can come up with your own.Last but not least. What do you do with those broken ones.Boys love to take things apart. You can keep all the broken things in a box and allow them to take it apart. My son will take them apart and try to fix something Else with it.Or he will make a whole new toy out of five broken ones. This will teach them that not everything needs to be put in the trash.Plus broken toys are great for school projects. For girls--Just because Barbie lost two arms doesn't mean shes not good anymore.Give them a pair of scissors and let them give a new hair style.Who knows you could be giving them a career.
