What to Do with Children's Clothes Once They Outgrow Them

Many times when we buy our children clothes, we forget to realize that if they are not at that age where they are not growing at a rapid speed, then most of the time the clothes only last a few months. Here are some great ideas on what do with children's clothes once they have outgrown them.

1. Separate the good clothes from the not so good clothes. Before doing anything, you must first take the time to know what to keep and know what to use for rags. Anything with large stains or holes goes right into the rag box. The rest you can put into a box or container for many uses.

2. For the clothes that are no good there are plenty of options. You can cut up the clothes and use them as rags for around the house. You can cut the clothes up into squares and make a quilt or even a rug. You can even use some of the clothes as gift paper, if the clothes are fancy enough.

3. Use sites like Craigslist or Ebay to sell your gently used children's clothes. Sites like these allow you to control how much you sell them for and who you sell them to. You can even create lots of clothes to sell in bulk which usually will give you the most money out of your sale.

4. Bring your outgrown children's clothes to a consignment shop. Consignment shops are thrift stores that sell your clothes and give you majority of the profit. Search around for the one who offers the most pay to you percentage.

5. Make accessories with the out grown clothes. Get your imagination going, make headbands, bracelets, necklaces, shoelaces, even a belt. The clothes might be to small for them to wear one way, but not another.

6. Make clothes for stuffed animals or baby dolls. Kids love dressing up their pals in their room. Create a whole line of clothing just for them to play with. Take a little time to put together, but in no time, you will see how much fun they are having with their outgrown clothes.

7. Make a scarecrow or a scary Halloween man. Get some of the use shirts and pants and start stuffing them away. Once you have them stuffed full, all you have to do is buy a mask, and place them wherever you want them.

8. Have a "outgrown clothes" yard sale. Never underestimate how many people will buy used clothes in a yard sale. You might not get all the money you paid for the clothes, but you will get some of it.

9. Pass them on down. If you have other children of the same-sex, then pass those clothes on down to them. Nothing wrong with passing down clothes to save a few bucks here and there.

10. Give the outgrown clothes to the charity of your choice. I recommend you find one that gives the clothes away for free to families in need, instead of those who sell them. If you are not sure who to give them to, your best bet would be to give them to a local church in town.
