What is Christianity?

Derik Matthews
What is Christianity and what it means to me? Christianity is defined as a religion that follows Jesus Christ's teaching; the religion based on the life, teaching, and example of Jesus Christ. An etymology of Christianity; "an alteration toward the Late Latin form of the earlier modern English christenty, from Middle English cristiente, cristianitee, crystyante, cristante, from Old French crestiente, crestientet, French chrétienté = Provencal chrestiantat. Xristiandat = Catalan christiandat = Spanish cristiandad = Portuguese christiandade = Italian cristianità, from Late Latin christianita (t-)s, from christianus.".

Christianity is much more than just a religion! Christianity is a way of life, and Christianity just happens to be the only way to Heaven. How do I know this? Well, in order to be considered a part of Christianity you must first become a Christian, and it just so happens, in order for a person to become a Christian is to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, no other way. Ok, but what about all those other religions that say different? Let me answer that with a question, what other belief has a God who is still living? Answer: None! That means, buddhist, hindus, muslims, etc. all have dead gods they worship. The only other religion I can think of that actually has a living God, is the Jewish religion. The problem here is they are still waiting on the Messiah, which means that all paths do not lead to salvation.

What does Christianity mean to me? It is a remarkable experience and way of life. Although, life has its adversities, I am still truly blessed. Anyone that tells you that there is a way to make life truly perfect is a liar. I know that is blatantly honest, but it is the truth. I have had some terrible things to happen in my life, and I still believe that God loves me and has the best interest for me. How can a person have Faith and not be guaranteed a perfect life? First of all, a person is guaranteed a perfect life with salvation, but it is promised in our next life. Yes, that means that we all must experience death first, except those still living during the rapture, before receiving our reward promised to us.

The most important decision you can make here on this earth is the decision to either accept or reject the gift of salvation. I hope that you know how important that decision is. This is my own personal interpretation of Christianity and why it is so important to me. I do not claim to be perfect so if I have errors then it is an honest human mistake. Thanks for reading!
