What to Do with Christmas Decorations: After Your Too Old to Decorate Any More !

RaddWrites
Christmas comes but once a year. Many are so very thankful of that! Years and years have passed but you'll always remember the good old days. Remember when the kids were young, the house lit up like no other. It was a total pleasure to decorate the house in full dress with Christmas decorations. Didn't matter the temperatures out side. You felt the cold less back then. You collected Christmas decorations for the house as if they would never make another. You had to have the lighted candy canes dancing down the driveway. One lighted tree on the front lawn looks so lonely, and so you bought a set of those spiral ones that come in three sizes. With room to spare you bought a few blow up snowmen and that huge Mickey mouse in the snow globe. icicle lights wound around the gutter line and ice blue lights adorn all 17 windows on the front of the house. Draping net lights over the bushes lent a finishing touch. Then came the wire form reindeer and you just knew you needed them. Not to mention all the odds and ends you have collected threw the years. Like fiber optic wreaths that you fit on the front and back door. Santa clad in hard plastic wasn't happy until the day you brought home Mrs. Clause who insisted she wouldn't leave the store without all of her elves. Christmas decorations over load, we have all been there. You are not alone!

Inside the house is also bursting with Christmas decorations. Some to old to remember when you bought them. You have a Christmas tree on every floor of the house. Decked out to the max. Ornaments that some day will be sent off with the kids. Only you haven't been able to give them to the kids. The memories would fade and your not quite ready for that. Twisted garland and bubble lights make Christmas just right. It doesn't matter that they are over 30 years old. After all, you only plug them in when you are home!

Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without your 250 piece village, complete with miniature tree's, lamp posts, and people. Each year you have added a new piece, maybe a barber shop or a fresh bakery. It has several levels by now and even a skating pond crafted of genuine mirror. Battery packed lights make it all twinkle as you dust it with 10 bags of fake snow. Brings a smile to your face, doesn't it?

Christmas decorations have a shelf life. This is sad but true. You can't climb a ladder like you use too. Over the years you pull out less and less, knowing full well you'll have to repack them again. The candy canes never make it out of the attic, nor does Mr. and Mrs. Clause. The reindeer stay parked in the garage. Standing guard is all the elves. The icicle lights and the blue lights never see snow again. The 250 piece village is now retired. Your children don't want any of that junk, as they say. They have no place to keep it. They have picked it over and took a thing or two. Mostly you are at a loss over Christmas decorations that have meant so much to you.

The time has come to donate it to families who will cherish your Christmas decorations. You can offer some of it to friends or neighbors. List it on craigslist and hope for the best. Save a few pieces to pass on to the Grand children. If your not gonna use it then give it away, making someone else's Christmas a beautiful one. Remember, Christmas is in your heart, not in packaged Christmas decorations. Look inside yourself, the memories are priceless.
