What Christmas Means to Me: The Significance of Family at Christmas

Casey McCabe
Christmas is all about family, not only close friends but extended as well. Christmas like all other holidays has become way too commercialized. To me: Christmas is not only about being with family but about the kids. For the past 10 years I have been collecting toys for toys for tots! It is one of the best organizations out there. The company I work for is very much involved in this. It provides brand new toys for children who have none or who are less fortunate. To see a child's face light up when you give them that special toy or to give them a hug just to show them how much you care is one of the best things that can happen to you at Christmas time or any time. God should not only be thanked on Christmas day, but every day. This day is all about Him and His son being born. Reaching out to help someone who is less fortunate than you are is the best gift and feeling you can ever receive.

If you have never helped out at a homeless shelter or have been some place where the kids have nothing, try it, you will get the true meaning of Christmas and what they face not only on Christmas day but every day.

Sometimes you never really realize what you have until its gone.

This will be the first year without either of my parents, although I come from a large family there will still be emptiness there for them.

The lights and the cards, and the presents are great, but I think beyond that for those who are less fortunate than I am.

Well I am a mother to a 15 month old princess. Of course she keeps me on my toes but I wouldn't change it for anything in the world. I am engaged to the best man ever and just love life.  View profile
