Concealer. It's a woman's secret weapon. It masks dark circles, blemishes, discolorations, and other skin anomalies we'd prefer not to share with the world. It can nourish. It can treat. It can be worn alone, or with foundation. But which one do you choose?
Liquid. Liquid concealer is great for sensitive skin. It goes on smoothly, without a lot of tugging and pulling. Liquid concealer often contains beneficial ingredients to treat the problems that need to be covered. You may find salicylic acid or willow bark to control break outs or even anti-aging ingredients. The best way to apply liquid foundation is with a small, stiff concealer brush. You can place the concealer exactly where you want it, and then very gently, blend with a stippling motion.
Cream. A cream concealer is great for dry and/or aging skin. Cream concealer won't magnify fine lines, and it covers smoothly on skin that is very dry. Be extremely careful not to use too much, or you may end up with a ghostly appearance instead of an even one. Either use a tiny concealer brush to apply in small amounts, or use your pinky finger to gently pat the concealer on the areas you need. Blend well. Purchasing cream concealer in small tubes will help you use less.
Stick. I love stick concealers. They are very portable and easy to use. They often come with salicylic acid to treat breakouts as well as cover them. You can apply concealer directly from the stick, using a clean finger, or using a brush. You only need a tiny amount. Start with less concealer than you think you need, and slowly add more if necessary.
Powder. I love powder concealer because it really helps to combat shine. A mineral powder concealer can help treat shine, breakouts, sensitive skin, and serve as a bit of SPF for sensitive areas. Apply with a small concealer brush, a tiny powder brush, or even your fingers. As always, make sure you blend it well. Use less than you think you need to prevent caking. If you have a blemish that is difficult to cover, dip a clean finger directly into the powder and stipple right onto the blemish. Blend well. Use sparingly on aging skin, as powder of any kind can make fine lines appear more prominent.
With any concealer, a little bit of powder over tip can help 'set it' and keep it from fading and creasing throughout the day. Always use a 'less is more' philosophy to concealer. Start with less than you think you need, and add more if necessary. Use it to cover or brighten areas of your face. Blend well for a smooth, beautiful look.
Keep your hands young.
