Choosing motherhood could be one of the most important positions you ever take. You are the one responsible for the well being of a child or children. As a parent you are counted on and trusted to help or (solely) raise the children. Depending on the child's age and if you have childcare, you will be responsible for keeping their schedules, organizing their days, taking them to the doctor, or getting them to their piano lessons and baseball practices on time. You're also the one might rock them back to sleep when they have a bad dream, or help heal broken skin on their knees, or be the assistant scientist with their science experiments. You will have the role of an educator, a mediator, and a philosopher. You will need to be understanding and empathic, while at the same time be able to maintain authority. You will be both a playmate and a disciplinarian. That's what being a mother is all about.
In order to be a mother you have to be organized, creative, understanding, nurturing, patient, reliable, and levelheaded. You have to be able to handle adversity and ready to make quick decisions. You have to be a tower of strength and a well of comfort.
Most of the virtues mentioned here are innate in almost every mother. The job merely brings out the best in you. But there are even more rewards to being a mother that will help in your future. Being a mother is a wonderful way to grow as a person. You get to learn more about yourself through your experiences with your children on a one-to-one basis. These are important things. Things that mothers shouldn't lose sight of.
At certain times in a women's life being a mother may be a reward enough. Yes, it still may not have all the advantages in the business world---but that's another topic of opinion.
