What Could Be

Terra Orndorff
What could be isn't what is.
It is a vision. It's an illusion.
It isn't really reality.
The best-laid plans often go wrong.
What could be often becomes
what we thought we once wanted.
It is a dream thought to be
better than the present.
But the present is what it is
for a reason.
What could be perhaps shouldn't be.
Life decides the road.
We make the choices at the forks.
All choices are made for reasons.
What could be lies at the end of one road.
What is lies at the other.
At the fork of what could be
and what is,
our choices were made.
Now, what is remains the reality.
What could be simply remains
the illusion everyone has.

Nice prose. My motto is hope for the best and expect the worst.
