What Are Demons and Where Did They Come From?

Demons, otherwise known as unclean spirits, have been interfering with mankind for thousands of years and according to the book of Revelation they will play a prominent role in the end time scenario. It is believed that they exist today as a result of the worldwide flood in the days of Noah. In Genesis 6 it says that fallen angels cohabited with human women and produced a race of hybrids known as the Nephilim.

"Now it came about, when men began to multiply on the face of the land, and daughters were born to them, that the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves, whomever they chose." Gen.6:1-2

"The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men, and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown." Gen.6:4

The rest of the chapter goes on to describe how the whole world became corrupt except for Noah and his family. It says that Noah was "perfect in his generations" which is a term used to determine the purity of an animal sacrifice. Noah and his family must have been unaffected by the genetic manipulation that resulted in the unnatural union that took place between angels and humans.

The flood destroyed these hybrids (earth-born) and their evil spirits have been interfering with the human race ever since. People are strongly influenced by demons whether they realize it or not- some more than others. This was demonstrated when Jesus walked the towns of Galilee. He terrified the demons to the point that they would actually start screaming at Him.

"Now in the synagogue there was a man who had a spirit of an unclean demon. And he cried out with a loud voice, saying, 'Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are- the Holy One of God!' But Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Be quiet, and come out of him!"

This happened in many places where Jesus traveled. Apparently the demons not only knew who He was but they knew that He recognized them and they became so frightened that they blew their cover. Demons are peculiar beings and evil by nature. They hate humans with a passion and want to destroy them.

People who dabble in the realm of darkness have no idea of the power behind the forces they are dealing with. Apparently they also don't realize that evil spirits need only a small window by which to enter. God warned man in the beginning about the world of spirits.

"...Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD, and because of these detestable practices the LORD your God will drive out those nations before you..." (Deuteronomy 18:9-14)

There is an invisible world that exists beyond human awareness and there is a serious war raging in this invisible world between the powers of Light and darkness. It is happening all around us yet we are oblivious to it.

Elisha was being attacked by evil forces and his servant became terrified. But it appears that Elisha could see into the world of spirits or perhaps it was by faith that he knew. In any case, he asked God to show his servant the presence of these heavenly warriors.

"Now when the attendant of the man of God had risen early and gone out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was circling the city. And his servant said to him, 'Alas, my master! What shall we do?'"

"So he answered, 'Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.'"

"Then Elisha prayed and said, 'O LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see' And the LORD opened the servant's eyes and he saw; and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha." 2Kings 6:15-17

If God were to open our eyes and reveal the spiritual world around us we would no doubt faint dead away from fear. Today, the UFO phenomenon is believed to be demonic activity. The sightings have increased worldwide and scientists who study them do not believe they are aliens from outer space but are actually multidimensional beings. They have never been tracked from space but always seem to suddenly appear out of nowhere then disappear into thin air. They exhibit behavior that defies all physical laws and their activity is increasing at an alarming rate.

What's even more interesting is that years of studying these beings has revealed that any kind of contact with them produces the same effects as recorded in literature associated with demons. Therefore, they are probably one and the same. Those who have come to this conclusion are not religious teachers but scholars of science associated with think tanks assigned to study this phenomena.

There are multitudes of people from every walk of life who claim to have been abducted by aliens who performed medical tests on them. In nearly all cases the tests had to do with human reproduction and it is widely believed that the genetic manipulation that happened in the days of Noah, or perhaps something similar, is happening today.

As we get closer to the return of Jesus Christ this demonic activity should increase dramatically. According to the prophet Daniel people will be running to and fro and knowledge will be increased. Daniel also elaborated on something very interesting when discussing the last kingdom.

"And in that you saw the iron mixed with common clay, they will combine with one another in the seed of men; but they will not adhere to one another, even as iron does not combine with pottery."

Who is the "they" mentioned here? Who or whatever "they" are, they will combine with one another in the seed of men. This means that "they" must be something OTHER than the seed of men!

Remember that in Genesis God told Satan, "And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel." We have two seeds mentioned here- the seed of the woman and the seed of the serpent.

Therefore, know your Bible. Jesus said that there would be a great deception prior to His return and that it would be so convincing that if it were possible it would deceive the very elect. Stay alert to what is going on in the world. Time is getting short and there is much to learn. The Internet is a great tool for learning but the Bible is our ultimate weapon against the enemy.

"Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away." Matt.24:35
