It took me years to finally attain my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration online. As a single mom of two young children, I went back to school at the Pennsylvania College of Technology. After one year there, I transferred to Thomas Edison State College for one semester and completed my online business degree.
What is a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Degree?
A Bachelor Business Administration degree is awarded after a student completes 120 credit hours (4 years full time) in general education and basic business studies, and advanced business courses for specific majors. Some of the basic business courses include accounting, business law, ethics, micro and macro economics, finance, management information systems (MIS), marketing, and organizational management. Penn College was big on student presentations, which I do not excel in. An independent learner, I thrived in online course.
You will need to pick a specific area of study for a Business Administration degree. I majored in Accounting. Other concentrations include computer information systems (CIS), entrepreneurship, finance, healthcare administration, management, MIS, marketing or supply chain management. Always be sure the degree program is accredited, especially if you are considering an online business degree.
Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Jobs
Depending on your specific concentration, some Business Administration jobs available to holders of this broad degree include: project management, office manager, executive assistant and many more. Many undergraduates with this degree go on to get their Master's in Business Administration. Ironic that it falls under the "Science" category since it is more like an "Art" specifically a performing art. If you are outgoing and do not might doing presentations, I recommend looking into project management. One of the girls I work with graduated from American and after an internship and no prior work experience; she makes double what I make.

What my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree did most importantly was allow me to be home with my children. I performed contracted transcription services for a marvelous client during the time I was taking many correspondence and some campus courses at Penn College before completing my online business degree at Thomas Edison.
The Bachelor Business Administration degree has left me a hefty educational loan to pay off. I believe the expensive piece of paper (that is in some box somewhere in my house) did help me get my foot in the door at various jobs that I have had since. My problem is that I want to be my own boss and I did not learn much in college to help me in that regard.
My Jobs after Attaining My Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Degree Online
My first job after completing my online business degree was an Accounts Payable Clerk in the non-profit hospital organization that I still work for. I transferred to research and worked as a Research Coordinator before moving into a Data Coordinator position in the Information Technology/Innovations department.
Because I had previous work experience, completing my Business Administration degree online was a good choice for my situation. For someone without previous work experience, doing an internship is important. It is difficult to find internship opportunities if you are a student of an online degree program.

Post a Commentnice job! congrats!
I have great admiration for people who have the tenacity to get an online degree, especially those who are raising kids at the same time.
I am finally back to commenting after vacation! Thanks for sharing your experience Ranee. I think it's hard to decide what field to go into or to change to, so reading about someone's personal experience always helps!
Congratulations on your degree. I think the problem in the future is going to be that there is going to be an overabundance of business majors. We are already starting to feel this with more and more business people being required to get MBA's. Could be stiff competition in the future.
Sounds like you have been pretty busy!!
Nice job! Congrats on your degree!
I agree great article and good for you on the degree.
Well for all your hard work, you deserve to have the best of life. Great article!
I didn't go to college and I did just fine in my career.
You know what I did with mine? I spent 20 years climbing the corporate ladder only to find out that I hated the view. Quit my job and opened a small business with my sister - where I stayed for eight years until we sold it and now, I'm a writer :) Cheers !
