What Does Astrology Say About the 2008 Olympics?

Sea Shepherd
Before I get into my astrological forecast for the 2008 Olympics, I wanted to bring to your attention of the significance of the number 8 this year. The Chinese place a lot of importance on the number 8 in their culture. For the 2008 Olympics, the Chinese picked the date and the starting time for the opening ceremony to be on 08/08/08 and beginning at 08:08 P. M.

In Numerology, the number 8 represents either material success or failure depending on the path one is on. It is a strong number for Karma and the ego. It can be honorable or abusive and corruptive. So we have to ask ourselves, based on history of the Chinese government, what could be their significance here? Is China trying to change so the world will see them in a different light with a new commitment to human rights? Or is it the same old same old with their abusiveness on human rights violation? This Olympic might be worth watching more than any other Olympic event that we have seen in a long time.

So, now let's see how the astrology forecast might be looking for these 2008 Olympic Games.

On August 1 in the Moon South Node we have a solar eclipse and August 16th we have a lunar eclipse. Typically it is not wise to plan a big event an Olympic during this two week period between a solar or lunar eclipse. So, we already are not starting out on a good foot.

With Uranus in the first house, it can show that the Chinese are trying to show their inventiveness by adopting a more unconventional way of getting themselves across to others. The Chinese will show their independence and originality when it comes to their hosting the games.

With Uranus is in opposition of Mars, it can mean some unexpected behavior on the Chinese government's part, ignoring a group's feelings. It could mean this behavior can cause an emotional confrontation - perhaps the Tibetans?

A concerning point I have is Uranus squaring Pluto. This is normally an urge to rebel against all that is hidden, private or secret about one self - in this case, China. This feeling could deny the opportunity China might have to change for the better within its inner growth. Internal pressures could burst out of the closet. I would expect a lot of protesting. Yet, with Mars in the 7th House, China has to realize the world is watching for some improve relations.

With Mars conjunct Mars, there is also energy of "taking care of business" feeling - very physical. This might not be a positive thing if you take in consideration another important transit, Mars opposing Uranus. This means explosive arguments could happen because of a feeling that your freedom is being challenged.

In the forecast we also have Mars Squaring Pluto. This tells us that if China did exert their power too much on any kind of protest of the Olympics by the Tibetans, the intense drama could risk a very turbulent emotional scene.

I guess for me, what says it all is the one transit where Pluto is conjunct with Pluto. This translates to the symbol of the Phoenix which means either a complete burning and regeneration or a transformation. So, watch the Tibetans and how the Chinese government handles the situation. That will give you the clue on whether we are going to see a "new China" transformed or the final power struggle straw that breaks the camel's back.

Fascinating. I now have a better understanding of how you use astrology in your forecasting. (And you're absolutely right about the Chinese attaching importance to the number 8. People pay big money in Hong Kong, for example, to get license plates with the number 8 on them.)

Over my head too.. but I kept reading a lot of explosive or confrontational activity.. so does that mean the 2008 Olympics could be quite the show?
