What Does the Bible Teach on Alcohol Beverages

There are 34 verses in the KJV that discuss the strong drink or alcohol. It also says to be sober. These scriptures start in Song of Solomon 7:2 to 1 Peter 5th chapter. Although all the definitions are not in the lesson. It teaches not to partake of the strong drink but being of a sober mind. This is not only in the Old Testament (under the law) but in the New Testament (by grace through Jesus Christ).

The definitions are found in the Webster Dictionary. By replacing the word with the meanings. It will aid in understanding what the words more distinct. Of course there are more definitions then have been used.

Leviticus 10:9 (Whole Chapter) do not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with thee, lest ye die, it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations. This teaches that: The word die here means to be no longer subject, to lose active qualities, to die away. The statute is a law, decree, condition or position.

Numbers 6:3 (Whole Chapter) He shall separate himself from wine and strong drink, neither shall he drink any liquor of grapes: The lesson: So they will not become disconnected or dissociated.

Deuteronomy 29:6 (Whole Chapter) neither have ye drunk wine or strong drink: that ye might know that I am the LORD your God. Keeping the mind clear and on the Lord;

Proverbs 20:1 (Whole Chapter) Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise. This one teaches: It will cause them to attack, treat with ridicule, to mimi or imitate. Make them have angry fury, violent anger, furious, tempestuous and yes even become wild. Strong drink can trick, defraud, entraps or making the thing be false.

Isaiah 5:11 (Whole Chapter) Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that continue until night, till wine inflame them!
They may conform to the alcohol, to engage in wine or strong drink be concerned with as a pursuit. Till it sets them ablaze and consumes them as a fire;

Isaiah 5:22 (Whole Chapter) Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink: Those that have superior power or strength.
They want to mix or combine the alcohol in their lives.

Isaiah 28:7 (Whole Chapter) But they also have erred through wine and through strong drink are out of the way, they err in vision, they stumble in judgment:
It can cause them to go astray morally, to be mistaken, be incorrect and sin.

Luke 1:15 (Whole Chapter) for he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink: They will be notable, remarkable, and exceptionally outstanding in the eyes, vision of the Lord.

1 Peter 1:13 (Whole Chapter) Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ: To be not intoxicated or drunk to show self-control, be subdued and composed. This is to have a manifestation of favor with mercy.

1 Peter 4:7 (Whole Chapter) but the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer. Be subdued with composure also, to be alertly on the lookout, looking and waiting attentively. Waiting to see what is done and how much happens.

1 Peter 5:8 (Whole Chapter) be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walk about, seeking whom he may devour:
Being keenly watchful to detect danger always ever awake and alert; know the force that opposes or attacks you. He is the opponent and the enemy in a hostile spirit. Another lesson: The spirit that is ready to absorb or engross wholly, to waste or destroy even to engulf you.

This lesson teaches that contrary to what some believe it is plainly written in the Bible to be sober.
