What Does Christmas Mean These Days?

Christmas the True Meaning

Angela Ledcke
I once wondered why each year it seems that the Holiday Season; Christmas is being so commercialized and advertised earlier each year. I always thought that Christmas was about sharing in the Joy of Jesus being born. As the years have gone by, it seems everyone has forgotten about the true meaning of Christmas. I find it to be such a shame. At my home, my children do get presents, but I have always made it very clear that Christmas is about "Baby Jesus". I have with each of my children have always made it a point to explain the true meaning of Christmas. These days the meaning of Christmas seems as though it has been forgotten. Not in my house! In the Bible John 1:1-3, 14. This birth was the most Unique birth ever in history, not made by man nor woman, but by incarnation, a word which means "in the flesh." In the birth of Jesus, the eternal, all-powerful and all-knowing Creator came to earth in the flesh. There is this amazing Video I think should be seen on National TV for the entire world to see: http://www.christiananswers.net/hope/thehope-full-length.html

Since 2000, my husband takes the kids to a tree farm and they cut down the tree for our home. When they get home, I have yummies ready, all the ornaments sorted out, and our home is filled with Christmas music. This is my favorite part of Christmas, the decorating of the tree, eggnog, Christmas music and my family together, sharing in the Joy of Christmas and the true meaning.

Something else our Family does for the Holidays......... I have the kids go through their toys, and clothing. I then take our things we have gathered together and take them to one of the Child Agencies and donate them for those children in need. Our Family has one other tradition, we all get in the car and go driving around admiring all the beautiful lights.

Do we open presents and have a Christmas where there is a Santa Claus? I did that for my kids when they were little, I have a 9 year old who still believes, but I don't think next year he will, he is already questioning it now.

Have any of you heard about the War on Christmas vs. Happy Holidays? I read an article and was just blown away with how the world is becoming so complicated on a holiday that we should all appreciate. http://atheism.about.com/b/2008/12/15/war-on-christmas-merry-christmas-vs-happy-holidays.
Remember, Christmas has a True meaning behind it, and I hope that everyone who reads this agrees with me on the meaning.
