Reason one, the food, I love to eat (as many others) but I also loving cooking as well. Cooking gives me the sense of freedom and creativity which is not normally a daily routine of mine. Cooking also relaxes me and gets me away from the stresses of bill paying, the job rat race, and commuting to work. My favorite foods are turkey and mac & cheese, that is probably why I do not get sick of eating it for almost a straight month. The idea that I can create any food I want without judgment just because it is Christmas. Food is no the only thing I enjoy, family is the reason to enjoy Christmas.
Reason two, family. With the hectic world that we live in, very few of us take time out for family on a daily bases. There is a feeling that life is guaranteed and we will be on earth another daily. This is the wrong way to think when it comes to family. We should show our concern everyday not just on holidays. Fact my family can annoy me at times but it was not until I became an adult that I realize that all families are annoying and to deal with it instead of run away from it. In the past our whole family would get together and have a huge dinner but over the years that has changed to include my mother, grandfather, maybe my brother, and myself. This group is just as good if not better than the entire family being around.
Reason three, service. I participate in community service all year round because I feel that people need help all the time not just near or on holidays. I have never volunteered on Christmas day because I have always spent time with my family. This year I have decided to volunteer on Christmas day. I am unsure as to what shelter I will go to or if it will even be at a shelter. I know I will help the less-fortunate as I do all year round.
These are the three reasons I love the holidays. I hope everyone have a happy holiday and make new memories.
