What Does It Mean When Your Dog Licks Your Feet?

What Dogs Do Can Be Very Funny

Timothy Scheiman
If you have a dog like mine he loves to do some strange things. You could call them fetishes or habits that seem very strange to us. Why dogs do some of the things they do many have speculated for the reasons. No clear cut reasons have been documented only through research have some scientists have speculated as to why dogs do some the things they do. In this article I discuss some of the reasons why dogs do some of the things they do.

Chew used Kleenex

My dog loves to chew used Kleenex. Many believe its the bodily fluids that the dog is after. Since our fluid usually contains salt this could be the reason some dogs love to chew on used tissue. He usually tears it up and than leaves it laying on the floor. Does your dog sit and beg for used tissue? Does he tear it up and leave it laying around? Maybe your dog just loves your bugars who knows. No one has really figured out why some dogs will chew on used tissue.

One woman told me her Lasso Apso would chew out the crotch on her undies. She had to make sure she did not leave the laundry basket out where the dog could get at it. Otherwise she would have a bunch of undies with the crotch chewed out.

Lick your feet

Some dogs have been known to lick some peoples feet. They don't think that dogs are after salt on peoples feet but that certain shoes will make your feet small like a female in heat. Some dogs will spend quite awhile licking human feet. They will not lick everyones feet but they are very selective. It has to do with scent and shoes. We know that not all dogs will do this and than they are very selective on whose feet they lick.

Dogs rub their nose after eating

Does your dog rub is nose on the ground or sofa after eating? Many believe its just a happy thing to a dog. Some believe dogs are wiping their faces but this belief is not really the reason why. Dogs are basically happy and showing their appreciation for the food they received. Some dogs will even roll and lick themselves after eating. It could also be a sugar rush they feel from eating but this is unknown if this is really the case.

Chase bugs

Dogs will chase bugs not necessarily to eat them but to be part of the chase. I noticed my dog would kill a bug pawing it but that is not his intention. He wanted it to fly or run so he can chase it. Dogs love to chase and run after things and most bugs give them that opportunity. Once its dead they rarely eat it but leave it lying where it died.

I am always amazed at some of the silly things dogs do. Just to watch them can be so entertaining and make you laugh.

I have a black pug, 3 yrs old whom I have christened with the name of Barako. He loves to lick my feet and/or legs! Why?

My dog is very weird and does a lot of the things you said in this article. For instance, he will go outside, find a dead earthworm, and roll all over it. He also only goes after used tea bags. If it's new he won't bother with it, but if it's used he'll tear it up and leave the insides all over the floor. Or, really weird part, barks in his sleep, twitches, and randomly gets up and barks at a wall then falls back asleep. Sometimes he'll bark at the sliding door meaning he needs to go to the bathroom, he walks out, then comes straight back in. I don't know why. As you can tell I have a very weird dog. By the way, he's a puggle named Odie and he's very chubby-looking, but pure muscle underneath. He's only 45 pounds, but he can drag about 70 pounds across the carpet.

My dog licks my feet (and chews the crotch out of my undies) yet my cat does not. Know what I call this? (And I think my cat would agree.) I call it evolution.
