What Does Saddam's Hanging Mean for the United States and Its War Effort?

The hanging of Saddam Hussein has finally occurred and people were seen in the United States rejoicing and Iraqis dancing in the streets. My question is, will there be change anytime soon in Iraq? The answer may disappoint you.

My initial reaction along with most of the American public when told by the media that Saddam Hussein's hanging and execution would occur within thirty days was of disbelief. I thought that it would take at least a couple of years after he was sentenced to death by the court for him to be hung. I guess that American societal laws don't exactly apply in Iraq. In America, the average waiting time for a person to be executed is twenty five years on death row. All appeals must be thoroughly exhausted by all attorneys before a person is put to death. In Iraq that process was sped up much quicker than usual and put at the top of the list for all courts to do.

While United States President George Bush hailed the hanging as a victory for America, was it really a victory? A man who killed his own people was put to death but there are plenty of leaders of nations around the world who kill their own people for political views or for speaking out against the government. In fact, the United States and the CIA has been guilty in the past of putting leaders in countries that have favorable policies toward the U.S., only to see them kill their own people in masses as exemplified by the Shah of Iran.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Senate committee just concluded through its committee findings that there is no link between Osama Bin Laden and Sadam Hussein nor is there any link between Saddam Hussein and terrorism. So in other words, this war was fought for nothing and a giant blemish on President Bush's public record.

Meanwhile we still have thousands of troops in Iraq and soldiers dying each day for nothing. Can anyone even give me a reason why we are still in Iraq anymore? Because I can't find one decent reason why we are still there and soldiers are still getting killed and the situation is not looking better anytime soon. U.S. international diplomacy is weakening with each day that the U.S. is in the Middle East with soldiers. Even America's steadfast ally in England no longer fully supports the war.

Saddam Hussein's death means new leadership in Iraq but that has already been in place for some time now and it has been unable to gain full control of power because of the multiple factions and denominations in Iraq. There is no solid Iraqi police force and there is no excuse why it has yet to develop. President Bush has been spoon feeding the American public excuses and answers that don't make sense and it is time that we see through all the bull s--- and see the truth.

To make matters worse, terrorist leaders around the world are renewing their vows to kill Americans and have more suicide bombings which are always a delight to see on television networks. In fact, I feel safer each day knowing that terrorist leaders are out promoting America's destruction. But seriously folks, the situation in America are always getting worse and Bush has done an awful job as president. The hanging of Saddam Hussein means absolutely nothing at all.
