What does it take to achieve complete body fitness: this balance of body processes (physical and mental)? Fitness occurs when all of these processes are functioning at peak levels. It requires more than an occasional walk in the park or trip to the gym.
Your daily food intake, your body's conditioning, and the amount of vitamins and water you absorb are all important to the overall fitness of your body. With daily intake of good, nutritional food, but no exercise or with good exercise, but the intake of bad nutrition, your body is not in balance and therefore is not fit.
A body out of balance (receiving one but not the other, or neither) is not fit. Even a physically tuned body is not fit if the internal organs and the mind are not also aligned. A nice figure and a strong heart are only part of the total equation of fitness. Maintaining whole body fitness requires daily physical exercise (whole body exercise), adequate rest, proper nutrition, and mental stimulation. Simple daily routines and habits can make achieving total body fitness a reality without grueling workouts.
If you utilize your resources wisely, educating yourself as to what is needed to maintain fitness, attaining fitness is not difficult. Of course, an abused body has been unfit for a long time and will not become fit again overnight. Proper balance and a good routine, however, will restore the body to fitness relatively quickly and will make for a happier, healthier, more balanced life.
The proper amount of attention to each portion of the body's needs will result in the fitness of the whole. The physical body is more efficient and versatile than any machine ever invented by man, and like any machine, it requires maintenance to function properly. Every part of your body has a matching part to which it is unified: two eyes make for binocular vision, two ears allow for directional hearing, a mind and a spirit allow for analysis and empathy, etc. On this same level, your mind and your body work together as well.
Caring for your body as a temple, which houses your mind and soul, allows for this balance to give you clarity and balance to every aspect of your life.
