In my last article I talked about the Date Auction which has become a great sweeping phenomenon on college campuses across the country as a way of raising some much needed money for a student organization. In this article, I would like to talk about a particular fund raising event for acapella student organizations called "The Dollar Show." The Dollar Show was first put on display in college in the northeast of the United States but the popularity of the event has also grown and although many colleges have never heard of the event, they soon will due to its huge increasing popularity.

The Dollar Show involves corporation between the singing vocal acapella groups on the college campus. On most college campuses, there are upwards of half a dozen acapella student groups which sing. Some acapella groups are made up of only men or only men. Some are co-ed and some are based on a common race, ethnicity or religion. In the Dollar Show event, the acapella groups come together to give one big performance in front of the entire student body.

The first step required to put this event together is a joint meeting between representatives of all of the student acapella groups on the college campus. This will foster greater organization and cooperation needed to make this event a huge success. You will also need to reserve a fairly large building room on your college campus that can hold several hundred people. The Dollar Show got its name because the event only charges one dollar for admission to see the acapella groups perform. The price is little enough for students to pay and see a great show. If several hundred students attend the event, you can get several hundred dollars in profit that can be split among all of the acapella groups on campus.

During the Dollar Show, there should be a person who is hosting the event and can introduce each acapella group to come on stage and sing. You also need people staffing the front entrance doors and collecting money from each person as they walk in. When the event is over, this money can be split amongst the acapella groups. Prior to the start of the event, the acapella groups should get together to make sure that the songs they are singing are unique and don't overlap.

Acapella groups usually don't get enough funding from their school which is why the Dollar Show has turned into a great source of revenue for them. Acapella groups need money to travel the country in singing tournaments which is the main reason why people are members of acapella groups. Many students in these groups want to be singers or enter the music industry. These tournaments are a great way of getting recognized.
