What Dreams May Come

Eva Belen
Have you ever had a dream play out in real life? I have. Since I was a teenager, I've had precognitive dreams. I guess you could say, I'm like a real-life version of the character Angela Petrella from "Heroes" or Allison Dubois from "Medium." I also notice things when I'm awake, but not to the extent that I am having visions. I don't know how to explain it, I just know when there's something particular coming my way. I haven't always been that honest in letting people know. They usually get that glazed over look as if thinking "Is she crazy?" No, I'm not.

I think it's crazy to dismiss dreams. Most people don't believe or think there is something else going on - they don't believe that there is something greater at work. Haven't you ever tried to force the outcome of a situation only to have it go in the opposite direction? I try explaining it this way: "The Universe is large and in charge, not us. When something needs to go down a certain way, no matter what you do, it will take place. You can't run or hide. The outcome will be as it needs to be." It doesn't always go over too well. The majority still looks at me like I'm nuts.

I have a great sense of humor, especially about all of this dreaming. I shake my head and smile at some of the things I've seen. One time, I was unaware that my bank balance was going to come up short for a payment. A couple of weeks before the due date, I saw my bank balance in a dream. It was like having an instant ATM peek at my account without having to go out. The next morning, I remembered the dream and jumped online to check, and there it was, the same number - to the penny! That's when I smile and say, "Thank you." I got the message and took action to correct it.

The dreams that have been showing up lately have to do with pregnancy, job interviews, job offers, and a job firing. I had the pregnancy dream twice. It's as if they (the powers that be) thought I didn't get it the first time, so they had to show it to me again. It's strange to not only see yourself pregnant in a dream, but to feel it. I felt the baby moving and saw the baby when it was born. The second time around, out of no where, they zoomed in on the baby in the womb. Whoever this baby is - it has big eyes. It was the weirdest dream, because I was in the middle of something else, when they pushed that front and center and just as quickly, it was gone.

People always ask me the when question and I always respond with, "I don't know." I think time is a human invention and so it's not something I see in dreams or feel when I'm awake. I cannot say, "Yes, at exactly...." It doesn't work that way. Another thing I tell people is that I do not have control over what I dream. The dreams just show up. At times the messages are symbolic and hard to figure out.

The Egyptians kept dream logs because they believed dreams contained important messages. Sigmund Freud analyzed dreams to understand human behavior. He was intrigued by the unconscious and didn't believe all happened by chance.

I called my daughter when I started to dream about the pregnancy, new job, and the firing. I asked if anything was happening with either her or my son. She got a little nervous; because she said I'm always right-on with the pregnancy news. I told her someone was definitely pregnant. At first she said, "It's not me and I'm sure Joey's girlfriend isn't either, it must be other people you know." But when I kept receiving the same messages, I called her again. She started laughing and said, "Well, if I wind up pregnant and get fired all at the same time, I will lose my mind." We both laughed. I explained that the events were not happening to one person. My sense is that different people are involved.

So what's all this about dreaming? Possibly the best explanation can be found in the Bible
(Job 33:14-16) "For God does speak - now one way, now another - though man may not perceive it. In a dream, in a vision of the night when deep sleep falls on men as they slumber in their beds, he may speak in their ears and terrify them with warnings."

Sweet dreams!

I am glad to see at the end you have found out that the Holy Spirit is talking to you and you should pay attention. I have had dreams that have been to the letter, not often but a couple of times in my life. God speaks to all of us..mostly we don't listen. Good article!
