What on Earth: The Best Place on the Planet for Fun and Unusual Gifts

Give Something Out of the Ordinary This Holiday Season

The worst part about Christmas or Hanukkah is simply shopping for gifts. What do you get family and friends? You're tired of giving cologne and sweaters. They 're tired of receiving them year after year after year. Both sides need something new, and refreshing ; something with a zing that will be talked about for months after. The answer lies in What On Earth, one of the most interesting websites and catalogs in today's market. There are all sorts of gifts, from outrageously goofy to sweetly charming. What On Earth gifts make the holiday not only memorable but downright fun!

My favorite What On Earth section is the one featuring all those tees shirts with the snarky sayings on them. I've bought a lot of them not only for friends but for myself (the one that has printed Careful, or you'll be in my next novel). The company also has tees celebrating people's heritage as well as ones featuring rock icons. Kids also fare well here. There's the funny Mom likes me best one along with the super cute Driver and Pit Crew tees complete with racing stripes. For the little girls in your life buy the candy pink ones that are printed with Total babe .

What On Earth tees have a lot going for then. They not only wear well but wash well too. They also come in sizes ranging from Small to Extra Extra Large (you'll have to pay a little more for those). Also there are sweat shirts ranging from S to XXL with the same sayings and pictures as the tees.

You've come to the right web site and catalog if you're buying for dragon and fairy lovers . Admirers of the mythical creatures can get anything from a cool denim jacket with an embossed dragon on the back to a giant tie dye plush dragon that sits eighteen inches high and almost a foot wide. For computer geeks there's the computer topper dragon where the creature can be put on the monitor's edge as a 'watch dog". My favorites are the wall plaque that proclaims "Beyond This Place, There BeDragons" and the tee that warns "Do Not Meddle In The Affairs of Dragons, For You Are Crunchy And Good With Ketchup" Other neat dragon stuff are the Oriental dragon rug in the shape of the creature and the Dragon's Lair Pub embossed glasses and pitcher. This last can be personalized with your recipient's last name. All dragon themed items range in price from a mere $12.95 for the computer topper to $129.95 for the jacket. As for the fairies, again there is a lot to select from both on line and in the catalog. For Oreo and sprite lovers there is the fairy cookie jar. This is so finely detailed that it really should be used as a centerpiece instead of a cookie container. Another really beautiful, fairy themed item is the sun catcher perfect to hang in any bay or bow window. It is a stained glass square depicting a sprite frolicking with rabbits. There are also the humorous fairy divas, figurines posed in all sorts of attitudes. They can be bought as a group or separately.
As with the dragon themed items, these too come in a range of prices .from $26 to $14 dollars.

Have cooks in your life? What On Earth can provide them with all sorts of unusual and cool culinary stuff. For the baker, get the Pi dish which is a ceramic pie plate with the symbol of infinity at its' bottom. Also for them is the Art of Rosette Cooking Set that has the irons and vanilla batter to make those delicate dessert crunchies. There is also the very gross but funny Peter PetrieEgg Separator, a ceramic mug that lets you separate whites from yolks in a very icky and graphic way (it involves his nose - enough said) For less cruder tastes, there are the cute salt and pepper shakers that come in a variety of themes. You can get them as bowling balls or kissing animals or barbecue grills. These are perfect for collectors and What On Earth adds new themes every year. Again prices vary so no matter how broke you are, you can still afford some gift item.

What On Earth emphasizes fun and you can definitely find that in the wide range of books and games. For creative types there is the Origami Page A Day Calendar. It starts out in January with easy to fold patterns and ends in December with designs for complicated figures. There is also the Dollar Bill Origami which shows how to make cranes and flowers from crisp bills. For Tommy Lee and Keith Moon wannabes there are how to DVDS plus books on playing tthe guitar or drums.

What On Earth also has neat games such as the Can You Beat Ken?trvia game that features the exact 800 questions given to the Jeopardy history maker, Ken Walsh. if you have foodies on your list, then definitely get them the Eat it Snacks and Trivia Game. This board game has arcane questions about popular foods and their ingredients. The coolest game is by far the Glow In The Dark Three In One Game which is a the traditional air hockey but with glow int he dark balls, discs and playing surface. This is selling for half price right now and is only $29.95

Before you check out, make sure you join Club WOE - short for What On Earth. This membership is only $29.95 right now and it entitles you to various discounts on certain items , along with free shipping and a tee shirt the day of joining. You'll also get three ten dollar coupons for your next three orders along with special e mailed newsletters letting you know about sales and discontinued stock.

This holiday season if you're looking for the fun and unusual , head over to www.whatonearthcom. You'll find all sorts of neat and fun stuff that will make Christmas or Hanukah memorable. You may even want to buy a few cool tees or games for yourself.

Tim, no problem. Seriously as a treat or holiday gift to yourself get one of their tees. They are so comfortable and so soft, you'll be wearing almost every day like I do with mine. Sign up for the catalog too.

Liz, I just checked them out and they really do have some nifty stuff. I especially liked the Godzilla slippers and the fact that they have the Simpsons treehouse of horror version of monopoly. Very hard to find. Thanks for the info.
