You are stressed? Life keeps throwing one problem at you after another one. You know it may affect your health. You know can affect how you sleep. Now you begin to wonder can it affect skin and what effects can it have on my skin?
Yes, stress can affect every part of our life: the physical and the emotional.
Physically stress can cause us to have headaches, high blood pressure, heart disease and obesity, as well as other problems.
It can also have effects on our physical appearance. It can cause our hair to become thinner and it can affect our skin. How?
Stress Can Cause Skin Disorders To Surface
Stress can cause one to develop hives, rashes, acne, and even fever blisters. It can also cause skin disorders that one may all ready have such as psoriasis and eczema to become worse. It can even cause more occurrences of rosacea (persistent skin redness to occur).
Stress Can Make Skin Become More Oily
As one is under stress, the body will begin producing many more hormones, including cortisol. These hormones will cause the sebaceous glands to create more oil. This extra oil can cause many skin conditions to become worse. It can even cause more pimples to occur.
Stress Can Cause Us To Become Lax In Our Daily Skin Care
When we are under stressful conditions, we may find ourselves having to take short cuts some of the things we do daily. This includes how we take care of our skin. This means that we might accidentally be aggravating skin conditions we all ready have, as well as creating more.
How Can Try To Minimize The Way Stress Effects Our Skin:
- Find treatments for any new conditions that may arise: hives, rashes, fever blisters or rashes
- Be ready and armed to treat any skin conditions we all ready know we have
- Try to wash our face more often if it becomes oily and possibly switching our moisturizers and makeup during this time.
- Try our best not to become lax about our normal skin care routine.
No, we can't avoid stress. But we can take extra steps to help keep it from effecting our skin.
