Bio terrorism is a real fear in our society today. The chemical weapons are easier to produce with just a little knowledge and effort. There are books from the '70s that tell you how to make your own poison's and there are people with degree's willing to give up the information on bio weapons and how to make them for the right price. But if you know what you are facing and the danger you might be able to avoid becoming a victim and even protect your own family in case of an attack.

There are several chemical weapons such as Ricin, Sarin gas, anthrax and even smallpox that could cause extreme damage and extensive deaths if released in even small amounts within a crowd. Most of these chemicals are released in the air and can be inhaled or absorbed through the skin. They share some common symptoms such as breathing problems, chest pains, blurred vision, vomiting, convulsions and sometimes flu like symptoms increasing quickly to pain and death.

This article is meant to teach and inform incase of an attack within our country. If you follow a few basic rules you can prevent the spread and possible deaths of thousands. You may even save your own family by doing the right thing.

1. If there has been a bio attack do NOT go to the area in search of family, friends or to tour. This is a dangerous situation and once there you will not be able to leave without proper care. It is best to contain a general area in an attack so it does not spread to other parts of the country.

2. If you are in the area of an attack, cover you mouth and nose while moving up wind or inside. Shut off all air conditioners and heaters. Close all windows and doors to prevent outside contaminated air from entering. Move to the highest point in the home or shelter for best protection.

3. Wash immediately with warm soapy water. Wash off as much of the chemical as possible without rubbing it into your skin or inhaling it. Do not touch your discarded contaminated clothing afterwards.

4. Call for medical help right away and tell them you suspect a chemical agent exposure. Help will arrive with protective gear and the right equipments for your needs and their protection. Do NOT make them guess the reason for your call. Be honest and be firm. This is the only way to get the special handling needed for chemical exposure.

5. If you receive a parcel or envelop with a powdery substance seal it in a plastic bag, wash well and then call for medical help. Make sure you once again explain you fears and why.

6. Turn on your local news for any information. This is for the safety of you and your family. Do as you are advised. If you must evacuate, do it quickly and carefully. Do not try to gather belongings, because you will not be able to see the chemical approaching. Just leave in the direction you are told to go and do it quickly.

With only these few instructions you will be ready in case of a nearby attack or an attack within your state or country. It is important to face our fears now about bio weapons and accept the very real possibilities it can happen here. You can learn more about protection and what type of chemicals you could face on
