What to Expect from the 2008 WNBA Expansion Team!

Mrs. Renee
It seems that the WNBA is continuing to grow and expand. Recently it was decided that businessman J. Ronald Terwilliger will own an operate a new Atlanta based expansion team. He is the owner of one of the largest real estate companies in the Atlanta area. There has been a long hard campaign to bring the WNBA to Atlanta according to a statement made by the President of the Atlanta City Council, in an article entitled "WNBA expands to Atlanta". To read more of that article you can visit www.wnba.com/atlanta. Although they have not yet chosen their team name or even a logo yet the people of Atlanta seem to be very excited about having their own team. According to WNBA records this will be team number six that is independently owned, and the fourteenth team overall.

Even without knowing any information about the team many are already lined up and very eager to purchase tickets for the 2008 season. For ticket information you can call (404) 604-2626 or visit the website www.wnba.com for further details on information on how you can get your tickets before everyone else. This new team will share the same home as the Atlanta Hawks, which is the Philips Arena in Atlanta. If you want to stay up to date on this new expansion team you should sign up for the WNBA Atlanta E-mail newsletter. This way as soon as the team comes up with their new name and logo you will be among the first to know. The WNBA is definitely growing and they hope by creating yet another team they will have another record breaking year in 2008. The Atlanta team also will have pick number four in the WNBA 2008 Draft. Hopefully they will make some good choices which will lead them to really make a name for themselves this year.

Some are worried that the people of Atlanta may not fully support the WNBA team. Others including the new owner are thinking positively and feel that they will have no problem filling seats and growing their fan base in Atlanta. Terwilliger is hoping that they will be able to make the play offs within a four year time period. Many are wondering that if this does not happen will he eventually end up selling the team? They also plan to let the resident of Atlanta help with the choosing of a team name. They hope that by doing this it will help to get people even more excited about their new team. The team president will be Bill Bolen, who is also a businessman who has worked will Terwilliger in the past. So make sure you stay tuned to find out what the teams name will be and who will be the top players of this Atlanta based team.
