What to Expect from Alltel's Prepay Wireless Service

Jerry
After running into several problems with pay by month plans with several different major wireless providers, including Sprint and AT&T, I've decided to go to prepay. I've browsed around for many different brands and service providers of prepay phones so that I can save some money in the long run as well as not have to worry about a monthly bill coming in with some randomly high amount for no apparent reason.

With Alltel prepay service, you can't get ripped off on these bills, since you won't be getting any month-to-month bills. I prefer to use Alltel's prepay service that allows me to pay a set daily amount per day that I use my phone. There are plans which don't require you to pay a daily fee, but these usually will end up costing more in the long run. Essentially, with pre-pay plans you can get month to month plans that give you so many minutes, nights and weekends, and you'll pay extra if you go over or want to text outside of your plan and what not. I still prefer to stay away from these plans, because the value of the pay per day option is so great.

With the pay per day option, the buyer has the ability to choose from 4 different features. These are:
-Unlimited Text: Text to anyone, as much as you want for free. Both incoming and outgoing texts are completely free all the time.
-Unlimited Nights and Weekends: Completely unlimited minutes starting at 9 pm every night, and from 9pm Friday to 6 am Monday morning.
-Unlimited Calls to One Number: Call one number as often as you want for free.
-Unlimited Mobile to Mobile: Call any cell on the Alltel network completely free of charge, any time, all the time.

You're required to choose at least two of these features, for a fee of 75 cents per day that you use your phone or these features. For a dollar a day, you can get 3 features from above. For 1.25 a day, you can get all 4 of the above listed features. Really, all three options are an excellent value. But if you plan on only choosing two options, know that there is no other plan on the market for such a low price that offers both unlimited text messaging and unlimited nights and weekends minutes (my personal choice.)

So basically, for 22.50 a month (75 cents a day, assuming you don't go over on any additional features) you can have unlimited nights and weekends, as well as unlimited text. If this isn't enough for you, you can add the other features. Additional minutes during the day time not covered by your unlimited features are 10 cents a minute, which is about the lowest standard rate for minutes, a great price. Pretty much all other cases are covered by your unlimited features that this is a great, affordable solution to keeping a cell phone active as well as being able to use it on a daily basis to keep in touch with friends and family!

If you happen to know friends on the Alltel network, even just a few, I would recommend paying the extra quarter a day to talk unlimited to them. You're going to have a hard time waiting until 9 on many nights, I wish I could change it to 7 like many other wireless carriers now offer for free. If you're someone who can't stand to not have nights and weekends available starting at 7, you may want to go with a different wireless carrier, however I recommend this to anyone who loves a great value in their cell phone!

Overall this is the BEST wireless service I've had, even across all of the most popular networks. I've only had one prepay phone, and this is still better than anything else I've ever had! Never underestimate the value of Alltel prepay wireless.
