What is Faith? (How to Increase Your Faith)

Vivian B.
What is faith? The Bible defines faith in New Living translation Hebrews 11:1 Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen, it gives us assurance about things we can't see. There are many verses on faith in the Bible. Faith is important to everybody. It is especially important if you are a born again christian.

Faith

Let's look at faith from a humanistic perspective. Faith is when your sitting in the doctor's office and he comes in with a grim look on his face, and he precedes to give you a bad report. This is a good time to activate your faith. The doctor is telling you one thing. Should you believe it or not? Inside you are thinking "He just told me I am going to die". God tells us even though we get a bad report, or a grim diagnosis. We are not to believe that this will be the final outcome. The Bible tells us in The King James Version , in Heb 11:6 But with faith it impossible to please him, for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. So, It is clear that we can't please God, if we don't have faith.

As a christian, we all want to please God. The truth is, we miserably fail him everyday. No matter how hard we try , we fall flat on our spiritual faces. The only way that one, can truly please God , is by exercising our faith, and by pressing on . We must continue on in our journey. No matter how many obstacles we run into, we must pick ourselves up and dust ourselves off and get up again. This life is tough, nobody said it was going to be a rose garden. Jesus himself said , in John 16:33" In this world you will have tribulation. But be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world." Jesus is telling us that in this world, there will be sickness, and disease, financial problems, hunger, poverty, murder, violence, and the list goes on. There is no way we can escape it. Trials will come to test our faith. The Bible tells us in Matt 17:20 He replied " Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain,' Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."

Mountain Moving Faith

Do you have mountain moving faith? God tells us that his has given to each one of us the measure of faith. Romans 12:3 tells us this For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith. What is your measure of faith? Do you have the faith to keep on going when you get a foreclosure notice in the mail? Our reaction as Christians to bad news should always be to get on our knees before the Lord and pray. Believe asking God , in faith and if you believe you shall have what you ask

Examples of Great Mountain Moving Faith

One of the Great forfathers of the Christian Faith was Smith WigglesWorth, who not on one but on 23 occasions, had faith to raise the dead. That man surely had mountain moving faith. What can we do to have mountain moving faith. We need to seek the face of God, daily. We need to seek him diligently, by reading the Bible , studying the Bible, and never fainting in our prayer life. Lift one another up in prayer, and never cease. How do we increase our faith? The Bible tells us Faith comes by hearing the Word of God. In Romans 10:17 It says " So then Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. God puts in plain simple English for us . We increase our faith by diligently seeking God, and reading his word daily. So next time the cares of this life get you down don't reach for the bottle, or the phone. Instead reach for the Bible. You will be glad you did . God Bless You!
