Corn dog. Some Sonic Drive-Ins are offering 59-cent corn dogs for Halloween evening, so buy a bunch to take home and feed your kids before taking them out for the Halloween festivities. Corn dogs will provide your kids with a solid meal before packing away the candy. Too, they'll have less room for candy eating after eating a corn dog or two.
Campbell's Alphabet Soup. Give your kids a hot bowl of Campbell's Alphabet soup before taking them trick or treating. The soup will warm their small bodies to help ward off the evening chill, and the soup will help counter the sugar that your kids may eat during the Halloween festivities. Serving crackers with the soup will help it last longer, too.
Grilled Cheese. A grilled cheese will go down smoothly and help coat your kids' hungry tummies during the Halloween evening. A grilled cheese is filling, but not so filling that it will cause upset tummies. Besides, grilled cheeses are inexpensive and easy to make, and they'll likely please all your family, not just the kids.
Pimento Cheese Sandwich. Feed your kids a thick pimento cheese sandwich before taking them out on a Halloween night of fun. A pimento cheese sandwich will set just right with their tummies, but you'll likely need to feed them another one just before bedtime. A pimento cheese sandwich fills the tummy in a pleasing manner, but it burns off quickly.
Macaroni and Cheese. Stir up a large batch of macaroni and cheese and serve it with some buttered toast. This quick-and-easy dish is economical and will surely make your entire family smile. Plus, the carbohydrates will supply your kids with some much-needed energy for the spectacular Halloween evening you have planned for them.
The above suggestions are only a few ideas to help you quickly feed your family something solid before the Halloween festivities. Whatever you decide to feed your kids, make sure that it will coat their tummies to help counter the sugar intake that will likely occur on Halloween evening. Too, a food full of carbohydrates will help keep their bodies warm during a chilly Halloween evening.
