What I Feel; A Poem to My Brother

Sonja Hernandez
As a little girl I remember you were always there
Sometimes throwing rocks, or pulling my hair.

In spite of the rivalry or childish games
I always knew you loved me and I felt the same.

We are now grown up and live our own lives apart
There is so much I want to tell you, feelings from my heart.

Pride and enormous admiration of the man you've become
Joyful of the house, you've made your home.

Your life through the years has come so far
You shot up towards the sky, you shine like a star.

Through your music, I feel a connection, unlike any other
In awe I respond, "That's Mark, that's my brother".

Someday I too hope to live my dreams
No matter how far off or remote that might seem.

Because of you I'm inspired to never lose hope
Never give up or let loose of that rope.

In God's perfect way, I'll make it someday, when the time is right
Oh so patient I'll wait until then, I won't give up the fight.
