To begin with the Spanish word Feria really excites people in Mexico when they hear it, because Feria means festivity for different types of Mexican cultural events throughout Mexico. The events could be New Years Day or a religious day that is very well respected. The Feria I like to attend when I go to Mexico is called Ano Nuevo or New Years, because it's full of different types of food and fun rides which I don't ride for my safety. There is a lot of fun games to play for charge of course, and the attendance is in the thousands. There is also a lot of beer for sale at these Ferias, and the Margaritas are very good also. The Ano Nuevo I like to attend in Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato Mexico is close to downtown in the city limits and it's very nice to walk to, because the traffic is very heavy during these times.
The second definition of the word Feria which this meaning is slang and used in the country side of Mexico, and used in the overall slang culture of the Spanish language. Feria in slang means money, and is referred to festivity spending. So, when a slang speaking Mexican asks you if you have any Feria you'll know what they mean.
I hope you all have enjoyed my article so when you go attend a Feria in Mexico make sure you spend a lot of Feria too. I get many emails asking me every week how helpful my articles are in Spanish terminology and the correct meanings of words, and I feel really great knowing that I'm helping hundreds of readers understand my Mexican Culture and how to understand the Spanish language. I sometimes take a long time on returning emails, but sometimes I am really busy but I still get to them as soon as possible. Because, my fans are number one on my daily list of things to do. I would encourage my readers out there to leave me comments in the box below, and don't forget that your input is very important.
