What Do Your Fingers Say About You?

Size Matters: The Thumb

If your thumb is thicker and rounder than the rest of your fingers, it means you have a very realistic view of your finances. You won't pour an unrealistic amount of money into the flashy clothes and gourmet food. You wants in life are simple and you thoughts are straightforward. Conversely, if you have a flat and thin thumb, you might be a little neurotic. If you have money, you spend all day thinking 'to spend or not to spend?' You take longer than usual to attempt to resist temptations so people think you are wishy-washy.

Your Pointing Finger Says: Want

The length of your index finger indicates the strength of your desires. Power and money, you want it and you will use it. The longer your index finger is, the harder it is for your to save and settle. Your desire for power or advancement makes it hard for you to go with the flow.

The Middle Finger is All Action

A prominent middle finger says screw it. That is, you are impatient and sometimes get into situations that will would not have happened had you given some time and thought into it. Consider yourself lucky if things have been going well, but reign yourself in if you find yourself going down hill.

The Ring Finger Craves Excitement

Those who have long ring fingers like excitement and often find themselves indulging with rushes of creativity and inspiration. But the excitement can also lead to haphazard ways of spending money, like gambling. Money means for naught, the rush is what matters the most.

The Last Little Piggie Likes to Talk

A long pinkie finger says you like to talk and you're good at it. But because you're so good at it, people are overwhelmed and sometimes offended by your words. You can talk your way into almost anything, but sometimes people don't see that as a good thing--so you might not have the greatest personal relationships with the people around you.

Cutting Through the Nails

Lucky nails (no, not the name of a nail salon) look like this: (1) They should be half the length of the first section of your finger and (2) the round white part where your nails start should take about 1/5th of your finger. They should not be cloudy or discolored.

So what else is there? Naturally long nails indicates an artistic mentality and they are also prone to respiratory illnesses. Short nails indicates a steady and clear mind, though not with a lot of depth. Additionally, women with short nails are less likely to become pregnant, according to Chinese palmistry. Wide nails indicates confidence and leadership, whereas narrow nails says you are pessimistic. Lastly, if there are various lines and cracks in your nails, get thee to a doctor as you are lacking in certain vitamins and minerals!

A Little Science

If all this seems like hocus pocus, the science gives us a peek into size differentiation and who people are: Researchers from UC Berkeley, took samples of finger size from people of various sex and sexual orientations. Then they theorized that the levels of androgen, that is, male sex hormones, can by nature dictate sexual orientation, but it can also manifest via the length of your fingers. They saw some interesting patterns that would seem to suggest finger length does say something about who you are.

So what do your fingers say about you?
