What is the Future of Pat White Since Being Released by the Miami Dolphins?
From College Football Superstar to Unemployed
What will Pat White do now? According to Football News Now, Pat White passed through waivers untouched and has not heard from any of the NFL teams in the league about his services. Pat White would definitely be on a practice squad in the league this year, but he had 13 appearances in 2009 that rules him ineligible to sign to a practice squad.
Pat White will have some tough decisions to make that include waiting until 2011 to make a NFL comeback and hopefully sign with a team. Also, Pat White could sign with a CFL or UFL team to get more quarterback experience. However, Pat White was a highly regarded baseball recruit coming out of high school in Louisiana and maybe he could have a shot of catching on somewhere with a minor league team. Making a MLB team would possibly be difficult for Pat White because he's been away from the game of baseball for so long.
Personally, I think Pat White can make it in the NFL. However, he may have to switch to a wide receiver, cornerback or safety position. He has the skill set to be a NFL player, but making it as a NFL quarterback will be a difficult road for him because he lacks the size and arm strength needed to succeed.
Pat White is a proven winner-but needs the proper environment for him to achieve success. He didn't get a fair shot with the Miami Dolphins where in 2009 he threw a total of five passes. Hopefully, another NFL team will acquire him and give him the opportunity to shine when the lights are on just as he did as a Mountaineer.
