What a Girl Wants in a Man: The Top 7 on Her Checklist

Every woman wants to find the perfect man and has an idea in her mind of the exact type of guy she would like to date and/or marry. Unfortunately, for most, Mr. Right Now may seem to be missing a few items on the checklist. Sadly, so many waste time, energy and emotion with someone who only has a few items on the checklist, when they could instead enjoy life, be patient and find the one that fits all requirements on their list.

First of all, every girl wants to feel cherished and loved. Whether she had a great daddy who always held her or longed to have a daddy who would, every girl needs to be comforted and adored. Whether it is through a warm embrace or a genuine look, love her as if she is your greatest and most prized possession. Some men unfortunately mistake possessiveness as an example of cherishing their woman. This act will actually push her away.

Another thing a woman wants is security. From knowing that they can trust the man with their life, finances and possibly children, to fidelity completely believing that they will one day provide a stable home for them and would never cheat on them.

With those two out of the way, the next is intelligence. In order to have stimulating conversations with each other and others around you, he must be at or slightly above the intelligence level of the woman. If not, it can be boring or disappointing for some.

Faith also plays a very important role on the checklist. For some women, if the man is not of the same religion, all the other titles on the list could be cancelled out. This is due to certain values, morals and religious restrictions. Some religions will not allow their members to date outside of their religion. Others may suggest that it's just "not recommended". To some women, a man who belongs to a certain religion or church shows them dedication and commitment. However, there may also be some women who do not belong to any organized religion and may not feel comfortable dating someone who is.

One thing a woman needs in a man is a sense of humor. If he can make you and others laugh without going overboard and enjoys the same type of humor in movies and everyday life, he's definitely the guy. Don't get me wrong, he doesn't have to be a full on comedian, just funny and enjoys the little jokes that the woman makes. If a woman can't be her silly self at times or feels uncomfortable with the man's jokes, it probably won't work.

Another category is style and grace. How does he dress? How does he treat or come across to others? Some women want a sharp dressed man, but not someone who is arrogant. Others may want a guy in uniform but don't want a drill sergeant. A more outdoors type of girl would probably like someone who dresses casual but also knows how to carry himself. Usually women are looking for someone who dresses somewhat in the same style that they do and is kind to others who he both knows and meets for the first time.

Last and definitely not least, he must have at least some of the same interests. In order to have fun and indulge in detailed conversations, you need to have the same hobbies, likes or dislikes. If she likes or is very involved in music and he hates it, they could have a serious problem. There are some women who can't stand sports, and therefore may not be able to stand a man who loves sports. A man who doesn't believe in exercising may not be a great match for a woman who runs marathons. If a man drinks or smokes or likes to go to bars, a women who doesn't drink or smoke may not be interested in going out on a date to his favorite pub. Remember, the above says "at least some," not all of the same interests. This keeps the relationship interesting.

There may or may not be more categories on girl's checklist. The one thing I do know is that if a woman waits for the one who has everything on the above checklist, she'll be happier and more satisfied with her decision. Women need to value themselves more and see that it is better to choose wisely than to waste time with the one they settled for. If they are patient and choose wisely, they will be rewarded.
