What to Give Your Spouse on Mother's Day or Father's Day

Thanking the Mother or Father of Your Children

Not everyone gives their spouse a gift on Mother's Day or Father's Day, leaving the gift-giving to the kids. However, some people like to thank their spouse for blessing them with children. If you would like to get your special somebody a special something on Mother's/Father's Day, here are some suggestions:

Jo Brielyn says, "What I'd really like to get from my husband for Mother's Day is any gift that shows he's really in tune with me and interests. For me, that usually means items related to music, books and COFFEE. I also like spending my Mother's Day on an outing with the family to somewhere fun and relaxing, like taking a walk by the lake or going for a bike ride...something simple that allows us to be together." She adds with a smile, "If I can't have those things, what I'd love to get is a free pass for a weekend away by myself.

Thomas Forthe also likes things that go with his interests. He says, "Books are always good, tools, fishing tackle, or DVD'S."

Annie Oh's husband liked the surprise gift she gave him last year: "Tickets to see Judas Priest and Whitesnake. Front row seats, too. He really likes concerts."

Cyndee Kromminga appreciates what her husband gives her. "I used to like to get flowers and candy. My husband will still get me these things, but as we've gotten older and have been married for almost 23 years, I really like gifts that depict the interests and likes I have. I enjoy books, crafty things, antiques, and vintage anything."

Kristi Cramer weighs in: "For Mother's Day, we usually BBQ and spend time relaxing. I usually get a nice gift - this year (I already got it) I got a new mp3 player since my other one broke awhile back. Then, my husband usually surprises me with something unexpected, too." She goes on to say, "For Father's Day, we BBQ and spend family time together again. The boys and I make something for Daddy. We usually paint pictures and do a baked good of some sort. I usually get him something small and allow him to pick out a new tool or something else that he wants."

Angel Sharum has a different idea as to how her husband should celebrate Mother's Day. "I tell my hubby not to buy me anything, but he never listens. Since he's going to do something, I would rather he take me somewhere than actually buy me anything. I hardly ever want "stuff". Drives him crazy!"

There are many possibilities when deciding what to get your spouse for Mother's or Father's Day. Whatever you choose, they are sure to appreciate your thoughtfulness!

This year he bought be something again, but it was something I needed. I recently started training for my first half marathon. Hubby bought me my very first mp3 player to use on my walks! Gotta love that guy!
