What Should Go Up on Schermerhorn Street Now that the Luster Has Been Lost for a Glitzy Hotel?
Neighborhood: Downtown
Brooklyn, NY 11205
United States of America
Does Downtown Brooklyn need another hotel, considering how many hotels were built just before the economy tanked, and Moody's is saying it'll be at least another few years before any daylight is seen? While the property where the Cambria Suites was to get built is zoned for hotel, what about another type of structure instead, such as a residential or commercial property?

As much as another residential property is needed, many would object on the basis of it not bringing enough tax revenue, compared to a hotel. A lucrative commercial property would suit many just fine too, based on tax revenue.

In the end, probably another developer will build an hotel. Never-mind that property having something culturally significant on it, even a dog run. What should go up on it probably won't.
