What is Good About Good Friday?

Blood is the fluid of life, of nourishment and of health. There is something about blood it is invaluable; it contains the very essence of life. I had not grasped its significance until a day of trouble came upon our family. My younger sister had been diagnosed with a brain tumor and was undergoing an operation during which time the hospital was in need of more blood. At that moment, I was ready to drain every bit of my blood just so my sister would be saved, as I donated blood I looked at the bottle fill up and thought that one could not put a price on that blood. It was an overwhelming feeling of contentment, joy and sacrifice but it paled in a moment when I thought about The Great Sacrifice that Jesus paid for me.

What did His Blood do for me? I was steeped in sin but He blotted out my sin with His Blood. He snatched me out of the devil's hands by paying for me with His own Blood. I did not have an identity and He gave me one-that of being His child, now I am of His royal Blood line. He continues to wash me with His Blood so I stay clean. I am covered by His Blood so I am safe from every plan and weapon of the devil. His Blood gives me strength and power to live each day.

Think of this! Just as our blood transports oxygen from the lungs to every cell and takes carbon dioxide away from the cell, so does Jesus' Blood brings life to our being and purges us from toxic sin that leads to death. Just like blood nourishes us and promotes health so is the Blood of Jesus to our body, soul and mind. It is because of this precious Blood that I have no fear of death because I have eternal life. The good news is that He did this for you and the every precious person in the world not just for me. Thank God for Good Friday!
