What better joy can be brought than the joy of saying, "I grow and eat my own vegetables!" Growing a garden isn't all that hard, matter of fact its great exercise for you and your family. Whether you have a small area in the back yard, a huge area in your yard, or just a window in your apartment, growing a garden can be for you.

If you're worried about whether or not you can maintain a garden then the best thing to do is start small. This is especially wonderful for apartment growers. Smaller garden are easier to maintain and manage. Make sure your garden has plenty of sunlight or purchase natural lighting. Also research your plants whether you grow tomatoes, strawberries, cucumbers, whatever your choice do your research and maintain a healthy soil supply. Also a good idea for healthy soil is worms. It sounds gross, I know, but worms actually break down soil and makes absorption easier for your garden goodies.

As we know most produce and the foods we purchase at the grocer have chemicals and all types of genetic material that we don't even know about. Having your own garden not only brings confidence that there are no chemicals added, but it's proven that self grown produce has more vitamins and minerals than store bought produce.

Your vegetable goodies are always fresh so you never have to worry about how long they've been sitting in the market and if your garden overflows just preserve your fruits or put your vegetables in the freezer for later use.
Once you've achieved the growing process you can just pick and cook your natural organic foods for a natural flavor that can't be beat.

Some of us live throughout the hustle and bustle of city and urban life, if this is so having a garden can tremendously help reconnect you with nature. It's always good to slow down a minute and having a garden brings unexplained therapeutic results. Maneuvering your hands in the dirt and watching your creation blossom to an edible treat brings a certain level of confidence and the sense of self reliability.

Gardening's also a fun and exploratory experience for the kids. Not only do they get to play in dirt, which is always a plus for young boys, but it also brings a closer bond and teamwork. Before offering to buy your child a pet, try buying them a tomato or strawberry plant, they're easy to maintain and teaches responsibility for different forms of life.

Gardening can teach your child skills that will last for the rest of their life. For example, your child will learn patience, responsibility, and the confidence of self achievement. It's great to say, "I grew some cabbage in our backyard!" Gardening can also teach children the importance of maintaining a healthy planet and healthy yard. A win win situation.

Always remember maintaining a healthy garden and healthy results means maintaining a healthy attitude. It takes time, nurturing, and a little love to get the desires you want, but in the end you're rewarded with healthy non-chemical goodies.

With an economy failing and taxes on everything we need to survive having a garden benefits the most important aspect of all, your wallet.
