What Hairstyle is Best for Your Face Shape?

labs2007
Some people think that anyone can get any hairstyle and still look good. That is not always true. I know firsthand that there are certain styles that I just cannot get. I have a long face so I decided to look up and research what styles go best with what face shape. I am going to share with you what I have learned. First, you would want to know what face shape you have. If you don't know what face shape you have, you can ask around to see what most people say. You could also take a tape measure out and start measuring. This may help or it may not. If you are going to measure you want to first measure your face across the cheekbones. Write down the measurement. Then you want to measure your jaw line from the widest point to the widest point. Write down that measurement. Then you want to measure across your forehead at the widest point. The widest point is halfway between your eyebrows and your hairline. Write down that measurement. Finally, measure the tip of your headline to the bottom of your chin. You should have a pretty good idea what your face shape is from that when I give you the different shapes below. I am going to give you the most common face shapes around. Some people will fit into a couple of categories but most people will fit into one of the major categories, which are:

1. Oval face- Length equal to one and a half times width. An oval face may change according to weight gain or loss and age. It is common for people who have a classic oval face to have small features.

2. Round face- If you have a round face your face will be as wide as it is long. This may vary a little where your face is not quite as wide as it is long, but within 1/4 to 1/2 inches.

3. Long/Rectangular- Longer than it is wide.

4. Heart- Narrow at jaw line, wide at forehead and cheekbones.

5. Square- If you have a square shape your forehead, jaw line and cheekbones are almost equal in width.

6. Triangular- Wider forehead that narrows gradually to a slightly pointed or rounded chin.

7. Diamond- Wide cheeks, narrow forehead and jaw line. May have a pointed chin.

8. Pear- Wide chin with a narrow forehead.

You could also cut out shapes that I have mentioned and put it up to your face to see how it matches. Now I am going to get into the styles that go well with the shape that you have.

If you have an oval shape face, you can wear any hairstyle. It can be short, long, layered or a bob. You have one of the luckiest face shapes. The only hairstyles you should avoid are the ones that hang in your face or eyes. You want to show off your beautiful face shape!

For the round face, you should try Hairstyles with height and fullness at the crown; they give the illusion of a narrower face. For the longer hairstyles, you want to keep it close to the cheekbones with now width. No bangs are the best but if you do use bangs they should be swept across your forehead.

For the long face, you should try styles that are short to medium in length with longer top layers but no height. Straight across bangs with side parts look best. Bobs and layered styles in medium and long lengths that add body in with wavy and curly textures are great for long faces.

For the heart shaped face, you should try any textured chin-length style. If you want bangs, they should be side swept and not straight across. Shoulder length hair with wispy layers will work very well.

For the square faces out there, you should try wispy forward falling hair onto your face, which will soften your jaw line. Wearing bangs swept over to one side will create diagonal movement to minimize the squareness. Short to medium hair with wispy ends will suit you nicely.

For a triangular face you should try, layered hairstyles because it will help balance and soften your prominent jaw line.

For all of you diamond faces out there, you should try hairstyles that add width at the chin such as chin length bob cuts. Styles that tuck in behind the ears are also great for showing off your great cheekbone structure. Straight across bangs works fine.

Hopefully, you now know what face shape you have and also what hairstyles best go with the shape of your face.

Great guide. Thank you, there is no other easy way to explain your face shape.

Actually, this is a way to know your hair style. I prefer hair styling websites to have such guide in their website explain more on which to choose and why.
