What Happened to Paula Abdul on the American Idol Top Five Show
Strange Behavior Does Not Quite Cover It
After each of the top five contestants performed their first songs, Paula Abdul was called upon to comment on each of their performances. Abdul not only commented on Jason Castro's first song, but his second song as well. Problem was, Jason Castro had only sung once. As a matter of fact, all of the contestants had clearly sung only once. Additionally, fellow American Idol judge Randy Jackson had just commented before Paula Abdul about each of them.
There is no way that Paula Abdul could have overlooked the fact that Jason Castro had sung only once. There has been an increasing wave of people that have wondered about Paula Abdul and what was wrong. This latest complete collapse of attention span will fan the flames considerably. It was beyond weird.
In the past, Paula Abdul has slurred words, as well as acted very strangely on American Idol. Is this the end of an era for the American Idol Judge? I certainly hope that she gets this worked out as I have always been a fan of hers. However, something is certainly amiss on the American Idol stage.
When Paula began to critique the second song, Randy Jackson stepped in and corrected the fact that Jason Castro had only sung once. Thank goodness, as she was about to move on to David Cook and do it again. Simon just began asking her to simply say who her favorite was. Ryan Seacrest was in a panic because of time constraints presumably. All in all, it was a mess of an American Idol episode.
Should Paula Abdul be replaced on American Idol? If she can not get hold of herself, then I feel she certainly should. If there is something going on that is not public knowledge that explains her odd behavior, then maybe American Idol or Paula Abdul should say so. To let this go on week after week is not fair to Paula Abdul, or American Idol fans.
American Idol is a wonderful show and I believe Paula Abdul is a wonderful woman, but something is certainly not right. It is time to address this before it becomes even more of an issue than it already is.

She is comic relief. Just a reminder that the entire show is pure entertainment. Never a dull moment with Paula sitting next to Simon and their on-going banter. Keep it up! It's Hollywood after all! lol
Perhaps Paula had watched the rehearsals and made some notes. She always loves to stand and dance during the performances, so it's probably hard for her to take notes during the live performances. Personally, if I was going to be a judge on national television, you can bet that I would try to figure out some of my comments before going live! But I must admit there were plenty of times during the audition episodes that Paula didn't quite look altogether there. Remember that one when she was late and arrived with those huge dark sunglasses?
As a person in the medical field who has dealth with people with drug and alcohol addiction, she appears to be on something, whether it be prescription, or not. Perhaps she has taken a strange combo of two drugs...hopefully her physician saw the episode.
This can be as simple as taking an over the counter allergy pill with her prescribed medication, and POOF instant fruitloop!

At least Paula is kind to the contestants, that is about all I can say for her, if she is in so much pain and has to be drugged up , how could she do that dance and music video with Randy Jackson. If she is that bad she shouldn't be judging. It is cruel but I have to watch just to see what weird thing she is going to do next. Her clothes are bizarre the night she got up with black gloves, no fingers in the gloves and held her hands together backs of hands together and effused on someone's performance was just plain weird.
Yes this week was the clincher. The what was with the Catholic school girl outfit? Is she twelve? I don't know it is just really strange. Too much diva going on there. Great article. I do hope she gets help though. She is very talented and cute, but just way too drugged up and needs some kind of intervention.
Poor Paula . . . . she does seem somehow preoccupied, under her cheery demeanor. (?)
Paula is said to have RSD a chronic pain disease It is no picnic and the meds can make you loopy..
I wish I had seen it.. I don't usually watch it, but I've heard a lot about this. I liked your article, and I agree- if it is as bad as it sounds, she needs help... for whatever is wrong.
