What Happened to Scott McClellan?

Tony Jingo
What drives so many in the Washington crowd? The short answer, Money, power, and ego, this remains consistent, regardless of ideology. So much so that integrity, honor, and loyalty are easily sold for those three coveted prizes and concepts.

Scott McClellan, the former press secretary for George W. Bush, demonstrated his lack of loyalty by selling his integrity, if he ever had any, to the George Soros crowd.

Scott McClellan's book, "What Happened" has been reported to be lacking substance and filled with regurgitated left wing talking points, that's about it, the same old same old. It's what it doesn't say that speaks volumes.

Bob Dole, former 1996 presidential candidate, has succinctly defined the author of "What Happened" in a scathing email he fired off yesterday. As reprinted by Fox news, here is the original e-mail:

"Scott,

There are miserable creatures like you in every administration who don't have the guts to speak up or quit if there are disagreements with the boss or colleagues. No, your type soaks up the benefits of power, revels in the limelight for years, then quits, and spurred on by greed, cashes in with a scathing critique.

In my nearly 36 years of public service I've known of a few like you. No doubt you will "clean up" as the liberal anti-Bush press will promote your belated concerns with wild enthusiasm. When the money starts rolling in you should donate it to a worthy cause, something like, "Biting The Hand That Fed Me."

Another thought is to weasel your way back into the White House if a Democrat is elected. That would provide a good set up for a second book deal in a few years. I have no intention of reading your "exposé" because if all these awful things were happening, and perhaps some may have been, you should have spoken up publicly like a man, or quit your cushy, high profile job. That would have taken integrity and courage but then you would have had credibility and your complaints could have been aired objectively. You're a hot ticket now but don't you, deep down, feel like a total ingrate?

Bob Dole"

While out pimping his book and granting interviews, Scott McClellan has expressed that he is "intrigued with Barack Obama" and not sure who he will vote for in the general election. So, is this simply driven by ideology? Clearly it's not driven by a sense of honor, when McClellan stepped down as the press secretary his parting words were filled

with emotion and glowing praise for the administration he now excoriates in his book, entitled What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington's Culture of Deception.

In April 2006 choked with emotion, as seen in this video, Scott McClellan announced to the world his resignation and addressed President George Bush with these words, "Mr. President, it has been an extraordinary honor and privilege to have served you." Scott McClellan went further and expressed the following, "I have been honored and grateful to be a small part of a terrific and talented team of really good people"

In 2004, Scott McClellan was highly critical of Richard Clark's motives behind a book Clark had written. Clark was a former counterterrorism adviser for the Clinton and Bush administrations and released a book highly critical of the Bush administration.

As recounted today in an ABC news report, Scott McClellan stated Clark was "flat-out wrong." He further prompted reporters at a March 22, 2004 briefing to beg the following questions, "Ask yourself why, one and a half years later, after he [Clark] left the administration, he's all of a sudden, coming forward with these grave concerns? If he had such grave concerns, why didn't he come out with them sooner?"

Good questions, Scott, can you answer them? Mr. McClellan's integrity and credibility are obviously damaged. It seems Bush bashing books are very lucrative, especially when George Soros is involved.

The book, What Happened, was a collaborative effort with Peter Osnos and published by PublicAffairs, which Osnos founded. Mr. Osnos, a proud liberal affiliated with other far left networks has admitted to "working very closely" with Scott McClellan on the book. As reported by NewsBusters, PublicAffairs has a roster of authors who are nearly all liberals and/or liberal-leaning mainstream media figures, including six books by far-left bank-roller George Soros. Currently, at the time of this writing, Scott McClellan's book is prominently displayed side by side with George Soros' book on the front page of PublicAffairs. Coincidence? If you think so, there is a nice bridge for sale spanning the East River in Brooklyn, NY.

George Soros has dedicated a fortune to damage the Republican Party and traditional American values by funding outfits such as the ACLU and MoveOn.org. MoveOn.org has boasted that they bought the Democratic Party and dedicated their PAC to Barack Obama. Soros even quipped that removing President George W. Bush from office was the "central focus of my life" and "a matter of life and death." He said he would sacrifice his entire fortune to defeat President Bush, "if someone guaranteed it", and many continue to state this as Soros's position. He failed at keeping George Bush out of office, but he has bought many loyalists and helped plummet the rating for President Bush to an historical low. History will determine if Bush's legacy can withstand Soros' billions.

What Happened to Scott McClellan? I think it's obvious.

You are so wrong. There is no silence about this very well-written book. So many things were written and spoken about that have needed to be said for a long, long time. Open up your mind and read it. You might learn something.

Did Bob Dole really write that? I wonder how the book is doing during the past few weeks? Bush has been attacked inside and out. Actually, I think Nancy Pelosi's statements earlier in July that he is a failure was also terribly outrageous and lacked any decency.

Well...if people are crazy enough to buy his books, then I guess he deserves all the money he's making. Still, there's nothing in that book that hasn't already been exhausted by the Democrats.

When you're working for the president, and are surrounded by like-minded idealogues, it's easy to fall into the trap of not questioning what you're being asked to do, even to believe it's right since everyone around you is saying it's right. When removed from the closed environment, hindsight might reveal some truths previously left buried. Works for both sides. Villifying a man for admitting he was wrong and trying to correct his actions seems a bit uncalled for.

I think the book may have fallen flat. There was a huge buzz and now....silence

Great stuff, Tony. I wasn't aware of the Bob Dole letter and thank you for quoting it here. Couldn't have said it better.

My guess is that money was a factor, but conscience may have been even greater. If Scott had any integrity at all, I'm sure it was difficult to sell the incredible loads that he was being given by his boss on a daily basis. As for Republican "values",thanks for the laugh.

What happened to Scott McClellan? Money, that's what happened. This is a great article. Too bad the Bush-haters have grabbed onto this book like it was the new Gospel.

Tony, You Rock! I had not heard that Bob Dole had written such an email. I am glad to hear Mr. Dole stand up for integrity. You did a wonderful job on this piece. Kudos. ;)

Great article Tony. Jeff must be thrilled with what he calls "confirmation from the inside" instead of the speculation from the outside that he usually deals in.
