Berkley shocked people when she signed on for the 1995 film Showgirls Tease staring Demi Moore, in which Berkley played a stripper. The film was bashed by critics and earned Elizabeth a razzie award for Worst Actress.
Since Showgirls, Berkley has worked consistently taking small roles in films and television shows including The First Wives Club in 1996, "NYPD Blue" in 2000, and CSI in 2003. In 2003, she also filmed a lifetime film entitled Student Seduction in which she plays a school teacher wrongfully accused of sexual harassment by one of her male students. That same year she married her current husband, Greg Lauren (brother of clothing designer Ralph Lauren), in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The actress, now 37, has not yet had children with Lauren.
More recently, Berkley has had a recurring role on the television show CSI: Miami, on Showtime's Lesbian show "The L Word" and it was announced in the summer of 2009 that she would be writing a teen advice book called Ask-Elizabeth to accompany her website of the same name. She is frequently shown on television shows like TMZ and other celebrity websites lunching and running errands in L.A.
She also stared in 2009 in the follow up to the cult classic, Donnie Darko, Donnie Darko 2 or S. Darko. The film was released in May of 2009 and went straight to DVD. There has been various rumors about a Saved By the Bell movie, although it is not certain if new actors would be cast for the roles, but there has been nothing definite released to date.
