Once again the annual New Year's Day bash found people crammed into the small spaces that are our living room and kitchen laughing, talking, and stuffing their faces until they needed a wheel barrow to get to their cars. There was music, a massive snowball fight during which all ten of the kids ganged up on Dreamy, and very early on the building of a snow goon. By midway through the party the goon was long gone.

I have to say I'm glad I didn't bother to wash the floors. Muddy shoes tromped in and out of every room all day. Our bathroom would have been a great place to lift boot prints off the floor if this had been a crime scene. The second run of the dishwasher and about an hour of hand washing might free up my counter top but everything is stacked and rinsed and there's no hurry to do it tonight.

I can't fit another single thing in my refrigerator or freezer. Half of what was cooked is now frozen and what wasn't originally cooked at my house is in MY refrigerator. The red velvet cake, four kinds of pie and six flavors of chocolates are going to be the death of my diet. I tried to give it away as people were leaving but there weren't any takers. How do you pass up pie, cake, and chocolate? I told guests to bring some Tupperware but they all conveniently forgot. I invited everyone back today to eat some more but the only one who came by was Ed.

Every ten minutes I go look at the array on the counter and taste a few things. Then ten minutes later I go look in the refrigerator and taste a few more things. Thankfully I have been able to refrain from drinking the left over soda but it's not because the red neck cooler that is currently melting on my deck isn't calling my name. I hear that liter of Cherry Coke that's languishing in a two liter bottle calling, "Lori come on babe, you had two cokes yesterday and neither of them was a Cherry Coke. You know you want it. You haven't had one in six months. Can't you just taste it?" I have to say it's only winning out because the glass full of Dr. Pepper that's languishing in its own two liter cell is still muffled by the little bit of snow that remains and all I can hear from it is "Wa wahh wah wah wa waaa waaaa."

Left over sandwich meat makes for great omelets and salads on day two but we are all at the point of not wanting any of it because we have over indulged so much already. The onion soup is looking like it might make it to dinner tomorrow night and the some of chourico and peppers is going to work to be shared. Hang on, ten minutes have gone by I have to make my scheduled pass through...

Okay I'm back! I forgot I had a whole tin of cookies too... well not so whole anymore. I guess you'd think the party was all about the food if you read this but it's actually the smallest thing by far. I have a slew of fantastic pictures of all my friends and a hysterical six minute long video of my husband being pelted by snowballs from every direction by ALL of the kids.

The best thing I have today is sore ribs. I laughed so long and so hard yesterday that it hurts to breathe today. There were some serious smart asses here exercising their book smarts and the one liners and puns were flying around the room tickling one person after another into almost atomizing a mouthful of food or drink as they tried not to laugh. It was tremendous. As good as that was I couldn't have felt better than I did last night around 8 when I logged on to my Facebook page and every single person who had been here was thanking me and telling me how much fun they had. It's good to be loved like me. I feel sorry for people who aren't.

Be Safe.
