What Happens Then?

Questioning a Distraught Life and the Possibility of Moving On

K. Jai Estes
What happens when the hope is gone?
When dreams have been destroyed,
And there's no tomorrow on the horizon.

What happens when the love is gone?
When those so close abandon,
And the place is no longer home.

What happens when the life is gone?
When days turn into nightmares,
And death is the only desire.

What happens when the dark grows light?
When peacefulness becomes life,
And one is soon forgotten.

What happens then?

this is so sad, but such a good poem. If if is about you, then I honestly hope you find your happiness!

Powerful piece...Even when all seems hopeless; there is hope. Been there, done that. (You might enjoy my story, "On the Edge of Forever.") Nicely done.
