What is HHO or Hydrogen Technology?

If you have been looking around the Internet for ways to save money on gas or get more miles per gallon then you have undoubtedly heard of HHO, or hydrogen, fuel cell technology. Now this is not to be confused with mainstream hydrogen fuel cells, rather this is a simple and cheap add-on to your existing vehicle that will improve your gas mileage. But what exactly is HHO technology?

HHO is not the new kid on the block; this technology has been around for decades. What is new about it is the attention that it received after a very successful marketing campaign by a company known as 'Water4Gas'. This company managed to get wide spread media attention and the information out there to the public that a simple HHO generator is actually able to double your gas mileage and only costs about $100. So how does HHO technology work?

HHO generator technology works by making a water, hence the hydrogen, based fuel cell and tying it into your engine. Basically the normal operating functions of your car charge the water which then allows the water to act as a temporary fuel cell and power your vehicle, at least partially. This is the sort of do-it-yourself hybrid vehicle and works on any car with any engine on the road.

What most systems are comprised of are simply a few mason jars in a small Styrofoam cooler under the hood of your car. Add onto these a few hoses coming in and running back out and you have a HHO generator in your car. As you can imagine the overhead costs for building one of these units is negligible and if you have to go to the store for any parts at all it will pay for itself within the first tank of gas.

There is an alternative option for acquiring a HHO generator for you car as well. With all of the media attention and publicity that Water4Gas achieved a few companies began to produce ready to go kits, just plug them in and your very own HHO generator is up and running. While these cost a little bit more money it is a simple install and again should be viewed as an investment that quickly pays for itself in saved fuel. After all if you could drive exactly the same and use half the gas how much money would you be saving annually?
