In modern cultures such as the United States, homosexuality is being debated. More and more areas of homosexuality are becoming commonplace though. What was once taboo and not talked about is now out in the open with very few people batting an eye. There are those who feel homosexuality is a sin and others who believe it is not a sin. To place the topic of homosexuality into the debate of whether it is a sin or not a sin, one must turn to religion for the answer. After all "sin" only occurs within the realms of religion.
The Holy Bible answers the question of homosexuality in clear cut terms to where there is no misunderstanding. Yet religious scholars from many denominations that claim to be based on the Holy Bible debate the subject of homosexuality amongst themselves. A question arises on how they can debate this subject when the answers are clearly spelled out in the Holy Bible. If the religious scholar says that his/her religion is based on the Holy Bible then why do they question what is inside the Holy Bible? The following scriptures leave no room for interpretation on the subject of homosexuality. God is the same today as He was yesterday, He does not change His stand on homosexuality based on current social acceptance.
Leviticus 18:22:
"Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is an abomination" ( Holy Bible, Kings James Version).
"Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable" (Holy Bible, New International Version).
The words abomination and detestable when speaking of a man having relations with another man shows that within religions based on the Holy Bible, homosexuality is indeed a sin against God. In addition the start of the scripture says "thou shalt not"/ "do not", which clearly shows a commandment not to enter into a homosexual relationship.
Leviticus 20:13:
"If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them" (Holy Bible, King James Version).
"If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads" ( Holy Bible, New International Version).
The only area for interpretation is the mention of death. It is up for interpretation as to whether the Holy Bible is speaking of a physical death or whether it is speaking of a spiritual death. The subject of homosexuality however, is still clear cut without room for interpretation as to whether it is a sin or not.

Post a CommentMark said, on 26 Feb. 2010, that we, as Christians, cannot eat shellfish and other animals. That is completely untrue!!! The Old Testament does indeed instruct us not to eat shellfish, along with a MYRIAD of other animals. However!!! The New Testament recounts how one of His, the Christ our Lord, disciples asked about these restrictions, and the Christ answered him by saying that ALL of these things are safe to eat because of His birth... through Him, ALL things are good...
assumed homosexual is a sin, what some professional people having an affair????????
I know what the lord says about the act of homosexuals and I cant say that I fully understand if it is physical or mental but I do know that God says to treat your neighbor as you would treat yourself and to love thine enemies,so if you are not in their world you dont have to worry about them trying to recuite you. Lust is the equalizer.
It also says the same thing about eating shellfish and children who disobey their parents. There are a long list of offenses that appear in The Bible that warrent a death sentence. You can't cherry pick individual passages from The Bible to create a customized cafeteria plan of morality. So for your sake, I hope you've never eaten at Red Lobster, eaten a shrimp cocktail or enjoyed a bowl of clam chowder.
I think our society is becoming to tolerate of to much, i do not approve of this lifestyle. I would not do it. I get accused of it because a close friend in school became gay so people assume I am because I'm not married and do not date a whole lot. I try not to judge those who are and try not to assume others are when I do not know, I know how I feel when people think it about it me. In summary I just think sometimes our society should get back to basics.
It can be shown that the prohibition on sex between men in Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13 does not apply to men today when the sexual activity causes no harm. Also, the Leviticus prohibition does not apply to men today because it applied only to the ancient Israelite culture. Full reasons for these conclusions are given on the "Gay and Christian" website (www.gaysandslaves.com).
